About this role

We are looking for a new colleague to join our team! Are you seeking a varied and patient-centered role with many different services under one roof? Then you might be the person we are looking for. We offer you a meaningful job where you have the opportunity to develop and grow together with us. **Job Responsibilities** Are you an engaged nurse who wants to care closely for patients, who is passionate about providing a safe and professional approach, and who prioritizes the patient? We aim to become Sweden's best stroke care department again. Would you like to be part of this journey? We care for acute stroke patients in the monitoring unit, patients who need rehabilitation after a stroke, patients who require mobilization and pain relief after fractures, and geriatric patients with medical conditions. We address complex issues such as disabilities, swallowing difficulties, visual disturbances, and speech difficulties related to strokes. Anna-Maria's thoughts on being employed here: "My experience as a nurse on Ward 2 is that it is a department characterized by safety, care, and humor. I think this is important when we work with people who are in a life-altering situation. We have a strong collaboration with other professions, which I believe has broadened my knowledge as a nurse." With us, you will provide immediate and specialized care. You will be responsible for acute treatment, monitoring the patient's condition, and supporting early mobilization. Your duties will include standard nursing tasks where you have overall responsibility for care, perform sample collections, administer medications, and oversee the management of access points such as peripheral venous catheters (PVC), central venous catheters (CVC), or subclavian venous ports (SVP). We also handle urinary catheters (KAD), various types of drains, preparation of antibiotics in closed systems, and the use of medical equipment such as medication pumps, feeding pumps, and telemetry monitoring. Our operations are regularly evaluated against national guidelines and quality registers to ensure high-quality care. **About the Workplace** We continuously strive to improve care for our patients and to create a good working environment that is enjoyable and rewarding. Employees are offered the opportunity to lead projects and develop the operations together. We provide all our staff with training in stroke care (3 credits). The Medical Clinic in Köping provides acute internal medicine care in western and northern Västmanland, serving an area of approximately 85,000 residents. Within the Medical Clinic in Köping, all internal medicine diseases are investigated and treated, and each department has specialized areas where staff have in-depth knowledge. The clinic is large enough to provide good experience in treating common medical conditions, yet small enough for individual employees to see the big picture, be recognized, and feel at home throughout the clinic. We have a good working environment and community. We have 18 care beds distributed among acute stroke, rehabilitation, orthopedic rehab, and geriatrics. Currently, we have about 50 employees. On Ward 2, you will be welcomed into a workplace with a family-like and open work climate where we value good collaboration among all professions. **Introduction and Development Opportunities** We want you, as a nurse, to receive a thorough introduction with us so that you feel secure in your role, and we tailor your onboarding to meet your needs. For newly graduated nurses, Region Västmanland offers a comprehensive introductory year for new graduates, where you will receive a long-term introduction to the profession alongside our other new hires within the region. It is essential that you know what development opportunities you have, and we have therefore developed a competency model for nurses.
