Folkuniversitetet has extensive experience in Swedish for Immigrants, adult education, and other adult learning programs. We are one of two providers delivering Swedish Language Introduction (SFI) and basic adult education on behalf of the City of Gothenburg. Welcome to us – an independent study association with strong university connections About the Positions The work involves teaching Swedish Language Introduction (SFI) in the evenings and/or on Saturdays. We are seeking teachers for students with both academic and limited educational backgrounds. You will be part of a teaching team collaborating closely with school management, administration, ICT pedagogues, coaches, and support functions. Teaching will take place at our premises in Lindholmen, Gothenburg. Your Competence and Background We are seeking candidates with a teaching certification and qualification in SFI/Swedish as a Second Language, which is mandatory (minimum 30 university credits), preferably with experience teaching SFI. You have a genuine interest in language development in theory and practice, and in information and communication technology (ICT). Experience with AI as a pedagogical tool is meritorious. You should have excellent digital competencies and experience in adult education. Further studies and/or experience in literacy development and basic literacy are also meritorious. As a pedagogue at our school, you are expected to have a relational approach towards both students and colleagues, ability to perceive student needs, individualize instruction, and draw out each individual's potential. It is important that you are accustomed to working independently and solution-focused. You need to be flexible, attentive, quick, and structured. We also seek someone who values real-world connections and contacts with surrounding social and professional life in language education, as collaboration in talent education or internships is part of the assignment. You create good relationships with students that motivate them to develop. We assume that you share our view on human equal worth and right to knowledge.
