About this role
The Senior Project Planner / Controller within AFNORD’s Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for establishing, managing, and integrating all aspects of project planning, scheduling, and cost control.
This dual-function role ensures that project performance is measured accurately across time, cost, and scope — providing the PMO and senior management with clear visibility of progress, risks, and forecasts.
Operating in a governance and oversight capacity, the Senior Project Planner / Controller supports decision-making, ensures alignment with AFNORD’s PMO standards, and drives predictability and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Establish baseline schedules, conduct critical path analysis (CPA), and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
• Review and validate EPC contractor schedules, ensuring compliance with PMO standards, milestones, and contractual requirements.
• Perform progress measurement, earned value analysis (EVA), and forecasting to monitor performance against plan.
• Facilitate schedule review meetings and provide recovery or acceleration recommendations where deviations occur.
• Integrate schedule data with cost and risk systems to support comprehensive project control.
• Conduct what-if scenarios and impact assessments to evaluate schedule changes or scope modifications.
Cost Control & Reporting
• Develop and maintain project cost control structures (CBS) and link them with the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Monitor commitments, expenditures, accruals, and forecasts, ensuring cost visibility across all project phases.
• Prepare and present monthly cost and schedule performance reports, highlighting variances, trends, and corrective actions.
• Support change management by assessing time and cost impacts of proposed variations.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, and contracts teams to validate payment milestones, forecasts, and budget adjustments.
• Maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and ensure timely reporting of project financials.
• Provide cost–schedule integration (CTC) for reliable progress reporting and performance evaluation.
PMO Governance & Integration
• Ensure all planning and cost control activities adhere to AFNORD PMO procedures, templates, and performance frameworks.
• Contribute to risk and change management reviews, providing time–cost analysis for decision-making.
• Support portfolio-level reporting by consolidating project data into PMO dashboards and management summaries.
• Mentor junior planners and controllers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement within the PMO.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in project planning and cost control within EPC, industrial, or infrastructure projects, preferably in a client-side or PMO environment.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory) and solid working knowledge of MS Project and Excel-based analytical tools.
• Strong understanding of earned value management (EVM) and project performance measurement methodologies.
• Experience in integrating schedule, cost, and progress reporting systems.
• Familiarity with contract and change management processes, including assessment of commercial impacts.
• Excellent analytical, coordination, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Fluency in English; Swedish proficiency is an advantage.
Desirable Attributes
• Experience in data center, renewable energy, or industrial EPC projects.
• Knowledge of Power BI, EcoSys, or similar BI/reporting tools for dashboard visualization.
• Understanding of risk-based forecasting and scenario modeling.
• Certifications such as PMI-SP, PMP, AACE PSP, or CCP are highly desirable.
• Strong ability to interpret data, challenge assumptions, and present clear recommendations to management.
