Are you ready to take on a pivotal leadership role in some of the industry’s most complex and high-profile projects within Chemicals & Biorefinery?
As a Senior Project Manager, you will take full ownership of project execution across Engineering, Procurement, Pre-fabrication, Construction, and Completion. You will manage contract performance, cost, schedule, risk & change control, and ensure compliance with our high standards for HSE&S, quality, and sustainability. You will work closely with the Project Sponsor and have full authority to make critical project decisions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Establish and implement commercial strategies in collaboration with the Project Sponsor.
- Ensure project delivery in accordance with the AFRY EPCM model and governing documents.
- Lead, coach, and coordinate the Project Management Team and cross-discipline leads (engineering, procurement, construction), including resource planning and competence assurance.
- Establish and run robust planning, reporting, and cost control processes, including invoicing and TIC cost tracking.
- Drive effective change management and reporting of deviations.
- Lead proactive risk & opportunity management and maintain the risk register.
- Maintain strong communication and stakeholder management, e.g., lead client interfaces, partner/supplier negotiations, and steering-group reporting.
- Ensure that our high quality and HSE&S standards permeate all project phases.
- Document and share lessons learned within the project organization.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have extensive experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Director within the EPCM business and on the contractor side, preferably within the Chemicals & Biorefinery industry managing larger CAPEX investments.
- Are located in the Gothenburg area or have the ability to work 4-5 days per week in the Gothenburg area.
- Have a proven track record managing multi-discipline teams and successfully delivering high-complexity projects across all EPCM phases (Engineering → Procurement → Construction → Completion), with high demands on HSE&S and quality management.
- Have strong commercial and contractual acumen: capable of leading contract reviews, change/claim management, and commercial negotiations.
- Have demonstrable financial ownership of projects - cost control, forecasting, invoicing, and profitability management.
- Have excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills with experience of reporting to Sponsors / Steering Groups and interfacing with international Clients.
- Are familiar with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles for performance tracking and forecasting.
- Communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing. Swedish language skills are an advantage.
- Have a relevant technical/engineering background and a degree in engineering, project management, or similar. Certifications (e.g., PMP, IPMA) are a plus.
