About the Job
There is an increasing demand for the application of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture to make it smarter and more efficient, especially in Sweden. The Department of Energy and Technology is seeking a senior researcher to work with and support digitalization within agricultural technology. The role involves developing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research projects that explore and develop digital solutions in crop protection and insect monitoring, as well as agricultural technology, including machine learning, signal processing, and image analysis.
Your Background
Requirements
• We are looking for a motivated individual with specific experience in digitalization within agricultural technology and a passionate interest in developing research ideas.
• A PhD and several years of international experience in agricultural science, agricultural technology, entomology, environmental science, or a related field.
• Previous research experience in digitalization, including AI, machine learning, signal processing, and data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R) are expected.
Preferred
• A strong publication record is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in international project collaboration and the development of research proposals will be considered an asset.
• Personal qualities that contribute to a positive development of a research team, along with a willingness to engage in writing proposals and supervising students, are also important.

We have extensive expertise in technologies and systems for sustainable production, including the development of digital tools for monitoring agricultural products. Within the field of digitalization, we have comprehensive competence in artificial intelligence, machine learning, machine vision and robotics, as well as biometrics (statistics and mathematics with applications in biological systems).
