Senior Firmware Engineer - Consulting Assignment with Potential for Permanent Employment

We at NXT Interim & Recruitment are now seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for a long-term consulting assignment, approximately 1 year, with an international technology company specializing in smart access and security systems. For the right candidate, there are excellent opportunities for direct employment with the client after the assignment is completed. About the Role In this role, you will become part of a cross-functional R&D team developing connected products for access and control systems. You will work with firmware that connects products such as gateways, communication units, and encoders with cloud platforms and digital locks. The work spans the entire development chain – from architecture and design to implementation, testing, and optimization – with a focus on robustness, performance, and low energy consumption. Example Responsibilities: • Develop, optimize, and maintain embedded software for gateway and communication devices based on STM32 or Nordic microcontrollers. • Contribute to architecture and design decisions and integrate firmware with hardware and backend/cloud solutions. • Write and run unit and integration tests to ensure quality and stability. • Collaborate daily with developers, testers, product owners, and other stakeholders in an agile environment. • Balance performance and energy efficiency in both battery-powered and network-connected products. Your Profile We are seeking candidates who have: • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, or equivalent. • Several years of experience in C/C++ development for microcontroller-based systems. • Experience with STM32 or Nordic Semiconductor platforms. • Knowledge of RTOS and design for battery-powered/low-power devices. • Experience with communication protocols such as BLE, Zigbee, RS485, or RFID is advantageous. • Excellent English skills, Swedish is a plus. You are an analytical and structured individual who enjoys teamwork, takes responsibility for your work, and has a strong quality focus.
