Senior Design Engineer - Cutting Equipment

Professional Galaxy is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for their client's Cutting Equipment group. About the Team: They work on product development of cutting equipment and related accessories for everything from chainsaws to robotic lawnmowers. The products they are responsible for developing are at the interface between the user and what is being cut, which is crucial for their customers' experience of the products and their competitiveness. This involves significant responsibility and great opportunities, where your and the group's efforts can potentially elevate their products above all others. The group currently consists of 8 people with a diverse and broad range of competencies and backgrounds. Job Responsibilities: Your tasks will span both the breadth and depth of technical aspects across a wide variety of cutting equipment types. This includes concept generation, method development, and design of new products, as well as root cause analyses and improvements of existing products. In your role as Senior Design Engineer, you are expected to support Lead Engineers, product care managers, and more junior designers with project deliveries across multiple parallel projects. You will work in various groups where you are expected to take greater responsibility for helping to solve more complex issues and contribute to developing more junior colleagues, while also having assignments where you largely drive the work independently. Personal Characteristics: To fit into the group and role, it is beneficial if you are a humble, patient, supportive, and attentive person who is adept at solving problems collaboratively in a structured manner. You should be comfortable switching between a customer-focused holistic perspective and a technical detailed perspective, and able to collaborate with people from both ends of this spectrum. In communication and decision-making, you prefer a structured, data-driven, and fact-based approach where you can easily explain your reasoning and also be receptive to others' input. Your ability to seek and assimilate information and knowledge from others will be crucial to your performance, so you should enjoy an environment that demands high communication skills. Since the tasks require creativity, we prefer someone who is not afraid to think "outside the box" and can combine this with the ability to concretize, systematize, and communicate. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree primarily focused on mechanical engineering, product development, quality, calculations, or materials technology. • Approximately 5 years of relevant professional experience or more, primarily working in product development, potentially with experience in adjacent roles such as production technology, quality, testing, calculations, project management, or similar. • Good experience in developing technical specifications and translating them into technical solutions using CAD (preferably CATIA V5), and familiar with creating drawing documentation according to ISO standards with high quality assurance and standardization requirements. • Comfortable communicating in an international context, with both internal and external contacts, fluently expressing yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. Preferred: • Experience working with dynamically loaded metal constructions, preferably in sheet metal, and knowledge of steel heat treatment.
