About this role

Department of Financial and Business Management (J8) at the Operational Command Headquarters is seeking a Senior Controller who wants to contribute to the Swedish Armed Forces' mission. About Us The Head of Operational Command, under the Supreme Commander, is responsible for leading and conducting operations to defend Sweden and our allies against armed attacks, as well as to assert Sweden's territorial integrity and protect Swedish interests. The Department of Financial and Business Management supports the Operational Command with comprehensive management and analysis that contributes to the leadership's ability to make well-founded decisions and act with flexibility – even under complex and rapidly changing conditions. We work on developing management models, creating decision-making foundations, and ensuring that operational resources are used efficiently based on operational needs. The mission also includes issues related to total defense, collaboration with civilian actors, and contributing to the long-term sustainability of Sweden's defense capabilities. Primary Responsibilities As a senior controller with us, you will work on issues related to management, planning, and follow-up of operations. Your mission involves translating strategic goals into practical conditions – contributing to operational capability by providing qualified decision support that combines economics, risk, resource status, and effect. You will take responsibility for your own areas, drive analyses, and develop foundations that provide leadership with insight and scope for action. The role involves broad collaboration within the Swedish Armed Forces, with other agencies, NATO, and civilian actors in total defense. Work includes, among other things: • Developing and contributing to comprehensive management that strengthens the Operational Command's flexibility • Preparing decision-making materials and analyses that support strategic priorities • Driving improvement and development work in management, planning, and follow-up • Contributing to total defense planning and resource coordination at different conflict levels • Participating in the development of order documents, referrals, and planning materials • Collaborating extensively within the Swedish Armed Forces and with civilian authorities to create shared effect REQUIREMENTS Qualifications • Relevant academic degree in economics or another direction deemed relevant by the Swedish Armed Forces • Several years of current and relevant experience in financial and business management from a broader perspective within a large organization • Current and relevant experience in operational follow-up that goes beyond financial results • Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English • Good ability to use and understand various system supports Personal Characteristics To thrive with us, it is important that you are goal and results-oriented, take initiative, and drive your work forward independently in a structured manner with high quality. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority. Civil Position Start: As soon as possible by agreement.
