Your Leadership
As Head of Section, you are responsible for the operations within the Maritime Supervision section in Gothenburg, which includes the unit for vessels and seaworthiness, at the department of maritime and aviation affairs. You actively work with personnel, budget, and working environment issues. You lead and create favorable conditions for employees in their work and represent the employer. As a manager at the Swedish Transport Agency, you actively participate in management group work, where you will contribute to both the development of your own operations and the agency as a whole, with a focus on citizens and businesses.

Your Future Work
The Gothenburg/Malmö Maritime Supervision section consists of approximately 16 employees and is responsible, among other things, for the supervision of vessels, their equipment, and shipping companies, as mandated by regulations through inspections, oversight, and actions in response to incidents, accidents, and mishaps involving vessels, as well as participation in the unit's regulatory development work.
You will be one of four section managers at the vessel and seaworthiness unit. The sections within the unit are highly interdependent, and good cooperation is a prerequisite for us to utilize our resources optimally. We work towards a culture where everyone strives towards common goals and contributes their piece to the unit's overall operations, where trust in each other and great respect for each other's roles and competencies are essential.

You must have
- An academic degree in maritime studies
- Experience in working with vessel technical issues
- Experience in a managerial role with personnel, working environment, budget, and operational responsibility
- Experience leading development and change processes
- Experience as a manager in government administration or authorities.

Additional Information
The employment is permanent with a managerial appointment lasting four years, based in Gothenburg.
Appointment will be made by agreement.
We normally apply a probationary period.
As an employee with us, there is an option to work remotely for up to three days a week. The specific needs of the business and the nature of the tasks will determine if and to what extent this is possible. Employment with us may require placement in a security class. A security review with background checks may therefore be carried out according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). For some of our security-class tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
