Are you a chemist interested in working with anti-doping issues? We are seeking an engaged and strategically thinking individual to lead and develop the Swedish WADA-accredited Doping Laboratory, an exciting operation aimed at promoting clean sports while contributing to research, education, and innovation. About the Position The Swedish Doping Laboratory is one of around 30 laboratories worldwide approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to perform anti-doping analyses. The laboratory is part of the Clinical Pharmacology medical unit at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge. In collaboration with anti-doping organizations and international sports federations, the Doping Laboratory helps maintain fair and clean sports. The laboratory primarily performs routine analyses based on WADA's list of prohibited substances, and also works on research and development of new methods for detecting and quantifying doping substances and methods. As Section Head, you will have comprehensive responsibility for the laboratory's analysis portfolio, procedures, daily production, R&D, finances, and staff. You will closely collaborate with other sections within Clinical Pharmacology, particularly the Bioanalysis section, which includes the Pharmaceutical Laboratory and Drug Analysis Laboratory. The Section Head position is linked to a continuing management appointment. In addition to the management role, you are expected to participate in the laboratory's analytical activities. As Laboratory Director, you are responsible for ensuring the laboratory's procedures comply with the current version of the International Standard for Laboratories (ISL) and ISO17025. You will maintain contact and good relationships with customers and anti-doping organizations, handle and respond to questions and requirements regarding positive cases and correspondence, and, when necessary, act as an expert witness. Qualifications Requirements: - Master's degree in analytical chemistry or another relevant field with at least five years of relevant laboratory experience - Experience and competence in analyzing chemical and biological materials for substance classes and methods used in doping - Good Swedish and English skills, both spoken and written Preferred: - PhD in analytical chemistry or another relevant field - Experience and knowledge of anti-doping work - Ongoing personal research - Experience in management roles or other leadership positions in a laboratory setting - Experience working with drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (Note: The rest of the document contains details about the recruitment process and information about Karolinska University Hospital, which have been omitted for brevity.)
