About this role
Halmstad Theatre is part of Destination Halmstad AB and has been a central venue for concerts, theatre, dance, conferences, and events since 1954.
With three stages and flexible meeting spaces, we create experiences that audiences and organizers are eager to return to.
What You Will Do
Do you want to create magic behind the curtain without constantly being on the road? As stage manager at Halmstad Theatre, you'll become an important part of an experienced team that together makes every performance and event possible. Here, you'll work with everything from concerts and theatre to conferences and meetings, in a theatre with proud traditions and modern technology.
With us, you'll have the chance to build on a long history while contributing to the future of the stage in Halmstad. We're looking for someone who wants to take responsibility, enjoys varied workdays, and wants to create added value for artists, organizers, and audiences. Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
As stage manager, you'll be responsible for the theatre's technical entirety, including planning, operations, and development in close collaboration with organizers, artists, and colleagues. You'll alternate between administrative responsibilities and practical work on stage, in the auditorium, foyer, and meeting rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan upcoming performances/events and serve as the technical and stage contact person.
- Collect and quality-assure riders; schedule walk-throughs, tours, and technical meetings.
- Schedule full-time and hourly technical staff (month by month).
- Rent additional equipment, book services like piano tuning, and purchase stage materials.
- Serve as light/sound technician when needed; produce light design when organizers lack a light technician.
- Perform rigging, set construction, coverings, and stage platform assembly.
- Be stage responsible during performances (fly systems, elevators, power supply).
- Maintain safety: fire and security guard during performances.
- Ongoing service and maintenance of fly systems, auditorium chairs, and all stage technical equipment.
- Support events and meetings with tasks such as furniture arrangement, table setting, and technical responsibility.
Who You Are
You are service-oriented and approach both artists and colleagues with a professional and friendly demeanor. You're attentive and quickly recognize what's needed in different situations. When things get stressful, you remain calm and focus on solutions; you're stress-resistant and problem-solving.
You enjoy collaboration and contribute to a positive team atmosphere - we help each other across boundaries. You're flexible, thrive in varied work, and can switch between practical and administrative responsibilities. You're goal-oriented, meticulous, and always prioritize quality and safety.
Your Experience
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of documented experience working in stage technology, preferably in a leading or coordinating role.
- Good understanding of sound, light, and stage technical systems.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for stage planning and safety.
Preferred:
- Multiple years of experience in stage technology.
- Relevant education in sound or light production.
- Knowledge of workplace environment and safety in stage spaces.
