Performing Arts Västernorrland Seeks Dance Director for Norrdans

Norrdans is a dance company based in Härnösand with the world as its workspace. We produce and present contemporary dance and choreography for people in northern Sweden and far beyond. We tour nationally and internationally, dancing equally comfortably on stages in Rome as in schools in Sollefteå. Now we are seeking someone who wants to lead, shape, and deepen Norrdans' artistic expression into the future. About the Position As Artistic Director, you will have overall artistic responsibility for Norrdans. You will lead the artistic activities and also have the opportunity to create choreography or exercise your own artistry in other ways. You will drive the development of Norrdans' artistic vision in close collaboration with the company's dancers, production and technical team, leading the organization with curiosity, courage, and integrity. You will be part of the management team at Scenkonst Västernorrland and contribute to the company's holistic artistic and strategic work. You will preserve the heritage – while simultaneously driving forward, towards new collaborations, new expressions, and new encounters with audiences. Who Are You? You are a choreographer or artistic leader with a strong artistic vision and genuine love for dance as an art form. You have experience working in leadership roles within performing arts, preferably with international collaborations and touring activities. You have an extensive and natural network within contemporary dance both in Sweden and internationally. You are confident in your leadership and see the value of working in dialogue – with dancers, technicians, producers, and the surrounding society. You create trust, inspire participation, and are a clear, attentive, and inclusive leader. You have a good understanding of how artistic and organizational processes interact, and you enjoy switching between the artistic space and the strategic level. You express yourself well in English and in one of the Scandinavian languages.
