About this role

State Evaluation of Medical and Social Assessment (SBU) is a knowledge authority under the Ministry of Social Affairs mandated to conduct scientific evaluations of methods in healthcare, including dental care. SBU is also tasked with scientific evaluations of interventions in social services and interventions supported by the Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS). At SBU, collaboration is the foundation for a positive work environment and the core of daily operations and product quality. The agency has approximately 100 employees. SBU is growing and has reorganized its operations. The new organization took effect on September 1, 2025. The newly established Individual, Family, and Society Interventions Unit (IFS) is now seeking an expert in social work. Unit Description The unit consists of 10 employees and is placed under the Social Services Department, led by a department head. Daily operations are managed by a unit manager. The unit works with both government assignments and self-initiated projects. It evaluates interventions for children and youth, individuals in vulnerable situations, and interventions to strengthen family and parenting. We develop knowledge about implementation and phasing out, organizational changes, and community-based interventions. The unit's work includes disseminating target group-adapted knowledge in our field through various channels. Job Responsibilities As a Social Work Expert at SBU, you will strategically contribute to organizational development by acting as an expert support for both colleagues and management. You will be responsible for developing knowledge bases, building external collaborations nationally and internationally, and developing scientific methods and work approaches in the field. Key tasks include: • Proposing, handling, and following up on complex issues with cross-organizational impact, either upon request or on your own initiative. • Monitoring developments in the field. • Maintaining and developing external contacts nationally and internationally. • Proposing and developing scientific methods and work approaches in the field. • Responsible for driving and implementing scientific projects (knowledge bases) or managing parts of a project. Qualifications • Preferably academic education as a social worker, behavioral scientist, psychologist, political scientist, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. • PhD in social work or a related field. • Extensive knowledge and experience of practical work in or in collaboration with social services. • Experience in conducting research projects post-doctoral studies. • Experience with systematic reviews/HTA or equivalent knowledge bases. • Good knowledge of social services legislation, governance, and organization. • Excellent Swedish and English skills, both verbal and written. Merits • Work experience in knowledge-based work in the public sector. • Experience planning and implementing training initiatives for authorities and social service organizations. • Experience in evidence-based development work within social services.
