About this role

Do you want to contribute to creating meetings between adults studying Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) and students in primary or secondary school? Do you have experience in the education sector and believe in the power of personal encounters as a means to foster mutual learning? Then this is the position for you. We are looking for a coordinator who wants to work outwardly and communicatively. With us, you will be part of a small, highly engaged team. About the Organization Världen finns här (The World is Here) is operated by ABF Väst with funding from the City of Gothenburg. We also have operations in Uppsala, Falkenberg, and Hylte. Currently, we have two employees in Gothenburg but need to expand to three by 2026. This is due to funding from the MOE Foundation, which will allow us to extend our operations to an additional eight municipalities in Western Sweden. The purpose of the Världen finns här approach is to create meetings between adults studying SFI and students in either primary or secondary school. Through these meetings, students gain access to more perspectives on both subject knowledge and their surroundings, as well as on themselves. At the same time, the adults can practice the language in a real context—groups become resources for each other. Please read more at: varldenfinnshar.se About the Position In the work of establishing this approach in new municipalities, we need to raise awareness of Världen finns här among teachers and other school staff. As a coordinator, your task will be to disseminate information about the approach, reach out to teachers in various educational settings, and inspire them to participate. You will also work concretely with coordinating exchanges, which includes matching teachers with each other using our digital coordination system, supporting them in planning exchanges as needed, and following up and evaluating. Matching between groups will be based on the respective teachers' and student groups' conditions and needs. As a coordinator, you will make assessments, communicate, and match groups to create safe, equitable, and rewarding exchanges. The position also involves establishing contacts and engaging in dialogue with officials and other potential partners within the municipalities. This is to identify ways to establish the operations long-term in each municipality. We communicate frequently within the team and support each other, but it is important that you have the ability to plan and lead your own work processes after an initial introduction. Världen finns här is in constant development. You will be involved to varying degrees in the organization's different development processes and participate in the team's weekly meetings. Additional tasks and responsibilities may be defined based on your preferences and specific competencies, such as: - Responsibility for our communication on social media - Monitoring the external environment - Writing applications for project/operational funding To work as a coordinator, you need to have: UNDERSTANDING OF THE EDUCATION SECTOR. Insight into the teaching profession and the school system. GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Ability to easily establish new contacts and inspire and engage others. Comfortable speaking in front of groups. ABILITY TO WORK STRUCTURED AND INDEPENDENTLY. Capable of structuring your work—planning and prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. You take initiative and drive processes forward based on the project's set goals. COLLABORATIVE SPIRIT. You enjoy collaborating, listening, and creating common solutions. You contribute to an environment where people help each other and where it is okay to both ask questions and challenge ideas. ABILITY TO SEE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES. Experience in various contexts and the ability to reflect on how background, culture, and/or group affiliation affect yourself and others. LANGUAGE SKILLS. Ability to communicate clearly and understandably in Swedish, both orally and in writing. MOBILITY. You should be comfortable working flexibly, as you will visit schools in different municipalities. You often come up with ideas and can implement new concepts in practice as well as solve emerging problems. NORM COMPETENCE. Ability to work from an awareness of societal structures/power dynamics, cultural norms, and discrimination. EDUCATION. Training in pedagogy or communication. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE AND NETWORK. If you have this in Alingsås, Trollhättan, or Vänersborg, it may be advantageous. Our Recruitment Process We use a competency-based recruitment process in several stages.
