About this role

We are seeking a Coordinating Environmental Specialist for the Swedish Transport Administration in Stockholm. This is a consultancy assignment. The position is part-time at 50%. The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which requires high levels of flexibility and teamwork. **The Assignment** The role of the coordinating environmental specialist entails supporting the Swedish Transport Administration's projects related to road and railway investments with broad general environmental expertise. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the environmental work of projects from planning to completion, providing advice and support to project organizations, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and legislation, and transferring knowledge to employees at the Swedish Transport Administration. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, other specialists, and additional environmental expertise, as well as participation in regulatory contacts and contract procurements. **Responsibilities** - Act as an expert and contribute to ensuring that projects adhere to the Swedish Transport Administration’s management system within the knowledge area and continuously work towards continual improvements. - Guide project organizations in the application of internal working methods, routines, instructions, method descriptions, templates, and tools. - Provide advice and instructions for problem-solving within your area of expertise, as well as support and advice to project organizations. - Assist projects in verifying that documents and documentation meet environmental legislation and internal environmental requirements and decisions. - Participate in consultancy and contract procurement at all stages, supporting the development of assignment descriptions, specifications, and scope assessments, etc. - Prepare documents and drive as well as consult on permit matters, notification matters, and exemptions. - Support project managers in contacts with authorities and other external stakeholders. - Assist project management in the preparation of changes and additional works (ÄTA). - Participate in the review of as-built documents and management data prior to handover. **Requirements (Mandatory)** A) Education: Bachelor’s degree or university education with at least 180 credits in the field of environmental studies or equivalent qualifications deemed comparable by us. B) Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the environmental field through undertaking multiple assignments as an environmental specialist or equivalent. The assignments should have included coordination of environmental issues in community building projects concerning planning, design, and/or construction. Participation in assignments must not be older than 10 years. C) Extensive general knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation (the Environmental Code and associated environmental legislation) and experience working with environmental permits, notification matters, and exemptions. D) A structured and analytical approach to work, being receptive, having good collaborative skills and communicative abilities. E) A valid driver’s license for passenger cars in Sweden. F) Completed safety training for work on construction sites. G) Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written. **Meritorious** A) Experience coordinating environmental issues as an environmental specialist in projects primarily aimed at planning and constructing state or municipal road and/or railway facilities. B) Experience working with soil contamination in community building projects.
