About this role

City of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to create a better and more fair recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work. We are now expanding our operations and launching more citizen service centers in the city's libraries! Here, as a community guidance counselor, you will meet people in various life situations and make a difference in their daily lives by providing support, guidance, and service. Your Work Tasks Citizen service centers offer guidance and support in everyday societal issues. The work is varied and social, where you meet people with different needs and backgrounds. This can involve anything from guidance in digital services and support in finding the right contact or filling out forms, to advice on social services, labor market, or community life. Each encounter is unique, and your support makes a difference. You will work at several of our citizen service centers around Västerås, usually at least two different locations each week, which makes the work both flexible and diverse. You will participate in local events and closely collaborate with your colleagues and other city actors such as libraries, schools, family centers, and health clinics. Together, you will contribute to creating an accessible and welcoming citizen service center at local libraries. As the operation grows, you will also help develop work methods and routines, ensuring we continuously improve in meeting residents' needs. The position may sometimes involve work in the evenings and on weekends. Your Competence You have studied beyond high school, perhaps individual courses or a complete program, such as behavioral science, political science, or social work. The important aspect is that you have developed the ability to seek, evaluate, and use information correctly. You have experience working where you have guided or supported people in various life situations, for example in public service, labor market initiatives, or other activities with extensive citizen contact. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and preferably knowledge of one of the following languages: Arabic, Somali, Kurdish, Tigrinya, or Ukrainian. Strong digital competence and the ability to search for information and guide others in digital environments are a natural part of your work approach. To thrive with us, you need to enjoy meeting people and have genuine commitment to helping others move forward. You approach each person with respect and curiosity, even in challenging situations, and create safety through a calm and solution-focused approach. We Offer With us, you will help develop a growing and evolving operation. The citizen service center is an important part of Västerås city's work in making service and public information accessible to everyone. You will have varied work with many encounters and a clear sense that what you do matters. You will have committed colleagues, an open work environment, and the opportunity to help build something new! You will become part of something larger! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate initiative in both big and small matters. We live our core values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after checking the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. All offers of recruitment and advertising assistance are declined.
