The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. Here, you have the opportunity to work in a dedicated and close-knit team where you can develop while contributing to the organization's development journey. As an employee with us, you will become an important part of Sweden's defense.
About the Unit
161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion operates around the clock, year-round. This is to monitor and defend Swedish airspace by producing and distributing authorized air status, directing air combat forces, and coordinating air combat operations. The battalion also has the mobility to establish and regroup radio and radar stations with its own resources.
The 161st Combat Control Battalion is looking for someone who wants to contribute to Sweden's air defense, is stimulated by varying tasks, and takes on personal responsibility. If you are also passionate about providing the best possible support to those who lead our air combat forces, you may be the person we are looking for!
Main Responsibilities
As a Communications Leader, you will remotely control radio and tactical data links across the country to enable the command of our flying units. You will also be responsible for ensuring that communication functions both internally and externally to and from the combat control center so that we can safely direct aircraft. Additionally, you will ensure that the system meets flight safety requirements, which means you must quickly provide the air combat command with information and assess whether it is safe to continue directing flights from the facility. You will participate in the daily operational activities of the air combat forces, as well as national and international exercises.
In addition to your primary role as a Communications Leader, you will also have the opportunity to participate in projects for the development of our function and our command systems that the Armed Forces and the defense industry develop together. On a daily basis, you will serve in one of the country's combat control centers. The majority of the position will be carried out during military flight exercise periods, which largely means daytime on weekdays. Evening and holiday work may also occur within the framework of national operational activities.
Within the Armed Forces, we always work as a team. Our organization is built on collaboration, adaptability, and a shared responsibility for the whole. This means that we are all prepared to support each other, sometimes even outside our own areas of expertise and comfort zones. Therefore, as an employee, you may sometimes face new types of tasks. This is a natural part of working in the Armed Forces that benefits both the authority and the employee's development, and you will never be given a task without the necessary support to succeed.
