Your workday – developing offices and residences abroad
The Property Unit at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (UD) is responsible for premises, logistics, interior design, and security technology issues at all Swedish embassies, consulates, and delegations. The unit also engages in lease negotiations and property development rented from the Swedish National Property Board or local property owners abroad. The unit, consisting of 25 employees, is now seeking a security technology officer with experience in managing security technical systems.
As a security technology officer, your duties will include:
• Being responsible for troubleshooting, management, and upgrading of security technical systems at foreign missions.
• Closely collaborating with other security technology officers in the team, relevant colleagues within the unit, the Government Offices, framework agreement suppliers, and other external contacts.
• Leading and being accountable for your own projects with a focus on security, cost-effectiveness, operational adaptation, and sustainability.
• Being responsible for orders to framework agreement suppliers.
• Serving as the contact point for foreign missions regarding security technology issues.
• Training staff at foreign missions in security technical systems.
You are expected to handle issues related to access and technical protection as well as local adaptations when necessary, and also be responsible for coordinating and project managing installation work at foreign missions. Furthermore, you are expected to follow up on security technical management and auditing of existing installations. An important task is to provide support and assistance to foreign missions within the work area. Additionally, training in security technical issues is included for staff who will be stationed abroad.
The role includes travel abroad as the team is responsible for all leased properties of the Foreign Service across approximately 100 locations worldwide. Read more at www.government.se
Your background
You who are applying have relevant experience in security technology and management of security technical systems, preferably with experience in property-related security within governmental or municipal operations. You have the ability to build good relationships with users and suppliers. You are familiar with the distribution of responsibility in contracting according to General Terms. You should have at least a high school diploma or relevant higher education/vocational training. The position requires a good ability to express yourself both in writing and verbally in Swedish and English.
Your qualities
As a security technology officer, you need to be both analytical and operational with a practical inclination. Good judgment and integrity are central qualities that require accountability and a focus on quality, where informed and wise trade-offs are made between security requirements and operational needs. You are attentive and have good collaboration skills. You are solution-oriented and can adapt to changing conditions and new environments.
Additional Information
We offer a permanent position starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible upon agreement. Applicants are expected to be able to undertake regular business trips to Swedish foreign missions, including to locations with very high security threats. The position is classified in a security category and a security clearance with background checks will be conducted before an employment offer is made. You must be a Swedish citizen but are welcome to have a foreign background. Your workplace is located in the government district of central Stockholm.
