We are now looking for temporary Mine Workers for our underground mines in Kiruna and Malmberget. Here you will have the opportunity to learn an important aspect of mining operations – such as rock reinforcement, drilling, or blasting – and develop your technical skills in a unique work environment. Introduction will take place in 2026, starting between January and May.
About the Positions
We are seeking temporary Mine Workers for Kiruna and Malmberget to replace regular staff during the summer. To learn the job, you need to be able to start as early as January and no later than May. As a Mine Worker, you can work in various locations in our underground mines with diverse tasks crucial to mining operations. The job may involve drilling and securing rock, blasting rock masses, or maintaining and servicing production areas. The work takes place underground, and you will develop your practical and technical skills. The Mine Worker profession offers many different specializations and is an important part of the mining industry's daily operations.
Different Work Areas
Production Drilling/Blast Drilling (Kiruna, Gällivare)
Blast drilling tasks include production drilling, which involves creating boreholes where charges will be loaded and shoot loose stone for loading. This is done either from a control room or in a cabin located underground. Tasks also include moving drilling rigs, changing drill bits, and daily inspections performed in production areas where the rig is located.
Specialized Drilling (Kiruna)
Specialized drilling is tasked with drilling special holes and hole cleaning on behalf of other work groups. The work's nature varies as both planned and urgent jobs are performed. Specialized drilling is a small work group with the entire mine as its work area.
Tunnel Driving/Preparation (Kiruna)
Tunnel driving works on drilling and securing underground rock. Preparation's primary task is to drive tunnels and reinforce rock walls for a safe work environment in production areas. The Mine Worker position in Tunnel Driving involves operating drilling and bolting rigs, as well as performing simple repairs and troubleshooting of the machine you are operating.
Charging (Kiruna, Gällivare)
Charging's primary task is to load and shoot explosive charges in boreholes created by blast drilling, tunnel driving, and specialized drilling. Scaling's primary task is to inspect and secure rock for other workplaces. As a temporary worker, you will perform work in both charging and scaling together with an experienced colleague.
Slice Service (Kiruna)
Slice Service functions as a service organization for the mine. The workplace's mission is to build, service, and maintain production areas. In the role of Mine Worker in Slice Service, you will have many and varied tasks. Examples include recovering loading machines, acting as transport leader, setting up cable protection, and performing daily inspections in production areas.
Control Center (Gällivare)
As an underground operations operator, you are an important part of ensuring that underground facilities function as they should. Your primary tasks include responding to urgent operational disruptions, cleaning, flushing, shoveling, and simple mechanical jobs.
Requirements

• Positive attitude and drive to work towards set goals
• Commitment and strong desire to develop and learn new things
Basic Requirements
• Manual transmission driver's license (B-class) (requirement)
• Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written (requirement)
• Complete high school diploma is required for permanent employment at LKAB, but is meritorious for summer positions
• Experience working underground and with mobile machinery is meritorious
• Experience with explosives or blasting certificate is meritorious
