About this role
Järfälla Cultural School is a unit within the Culture, Democracy, and Leisure Administration that offers courses for children and youth during their leisure time. We are a dynamic workplace with over 40 dedicated, competent, and creative employees teaching visual arts, dance, film and media, various music subjects and orchestras, new circus, as well as theater/drama. The administration consists of a department head, two unit managers, a coordinator, and a communicator. We operate in our own facilities located in all parts of the municipality, centrally in Jakobsberg, and in Bas Barkarby. Many of our facilities are newly renovated or newly built and tailored for approximately 1,500 students participating in our courses. We also offer commissioned activities (adapted school, daily activities, preschool and school, senior activities) and open activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a teacher at the cultural school, you play an important role for many children and young people during their leisure time, in both term courses and open activities as well as short/vacation courses. You have an open and curious approach and are inclusive in your working methods. In this way, you contribute to a positive working environment for the cultural school's participants and colleagues. You see collaboration as an essential part of your work.
• Teaching - plan, implement, evaluate, create favorable conditions for learning, adapt materials for individuals and groups, prepare and follow up, plan and execute various events in collaboration with others both internally and externally. Teaching is conducted both individually and in groups. Provide young people with tools for participation and influence during lessons.
• Administration - scheduling in consultation with the unit manager, communication with participants and parents.
• Leadership - organize and carry out outreach activities, participate in joint organizational development with other colleagues based on set goals, and maintain a perspective of diversity and accessibility.
• Professional development - responsible for maintaining your own artistic practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a pedagogical education from a music academy or equivalent, along with teaching experience. Teaching demonstrations may be applied during the selection of candidates.
You possess strong subject knowledge in both technique and genre diversity. You accompany your students on the piano. Sometimes you lead a choir by yourself and at other times together with a colleague. You conduct baby rhythm sessions with a colleague. You are responsible for the singing component in the musical subject where there is a theater educator in charge.
You are self-driven and take responsibility for structuring your work. You have good collaboration skills, are communicative, and attentive. You engage actively in shared tasks.
You have an equitable approach and treat everyone equally, acting to promote equal treatment regarding resources, opportunities, and accessibility.
