Section Chief - Digitization Unit at the National Archives
The National Archives' digitization unit is seeking a Section Chief for the production facility in Fränsta, starting as soon as possible following the current section chief's transfer to another position within the agency.
The Fränsta unit primarily works on digitizing analog materials in a large-scale production environment. Our production involves receiving materials, preparing them, scanning, and finally quality-checking the product before delivery. Materials include both the National Archives' own collections and assignments from other government agencies and public bodies.
The government has recently announced a major investment in the National Archives' work on digitizing archival materials for use as AI training data.
As Section Chief, you will report directly to the Unit Manager. Your section is responsible for material preparation and quality control. There is another Section Chief, and together you will lead the operational activities. Along with the planning manager, you will distribute tasks and resources between the two sections for efficient production. You will also work closely with our project leaders to achieve customer-promised deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in the management group leading and developing the organization
• Plan, lead, and follow up work to ensure efficiency and quality assurance
• Manage personnel responsibility for approximately 15 employees
• Develop the section's budget
Your leadership will be characterized by a communicative and coaching approach, developing the organization alongside your employees. You will create conditions for active employee participation by leveraging and encouraging engagement and commitment.
Qualifications Required:
• Appropriate education (minimum high school level)
• Experience in production environments with goal-oriented work and result tracking
• At least 3 years of management experience with personnel responsibility
• Excellent Swedish language skills
• Valid driver's license (B category)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with cultural heritage digitization
• Change management experience
• Good English language skills
