About this role
We are seeking an engaged and competent resource educator who wants to support, motivate, and encourage students with autism in both academic work and social situations.
You will participate in teaching implementation and support students during breaks and during schedule-breaking activities. Close collaboration with teachers is crucial for creating an effective and supportive learning environment. You will also work in after-school care and follow curriculum goals and individual implementation plans.
Your Background
To thrive with us, we believe you are driven and curious, with a strong desire to continue developing. You should see challenges as opportunities rather than problems and have great commitment to students. You also believe in every student's right to develop to their fullest potential. We believe you have an interest in creating good relationships with both students and guardians to best meet students in their daily lives. We prefer candidates with experience working with children and youth with neuropsychiatric diagnoses and intellectual disabilities, as well as knowledge of low-affective approaches and other methods that support students' learning and social development.
Expectations
We value personal competence and seek someone who is independent, driven, and flexible with a solution-focused approach. You should be curious with good collaborative skills and ability to create and maintain relationships. It is important that you can be trustworthy and attentive to students' needs.
Students have a social context in the classroom, but many need one-to-one support. The work team operates in teams and rotates between all classes in the unit. The work requires great flexibility, as students have significant individual needs and varying circumstances. Your tasks include planning and implementing meaningful activities for students during the school day. You are responsible for supervision and safety throughout the day. You actively participate in student goal achievement, schedule-breaking activities, and collaborate with guardians in consultation with mentors.
As a person, you are unpretentious and believe in collaboration. Good and trusting relationships with management, colleagues, guardians, and students are important to you. You share our values of Forward, Together with Heart and Wisdom.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone who wants to work as a resource educator in a special needs school. It is meritorious if you have a high school diploma in Child and Leisure Program, Care Program, or Assistant Education via YH. We prefer good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
