About this role

Are you a mechanic who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys traveling, and wants a job where no two days are the same? Then you might be the person we are looking for! At DESAB, you will become part of a growing marine technology company that works with everything from engine overhauls and propeller shafts to complete propulsion systems on vessels. Our assignments span the globe – from Nordic shipyards to tropical ports – and we are present wherever our customers' boats and challenges are located. We are currently seeking more traveling mechanics who want to join our team! **Job Responsibilities** As a traveling mechanic with us, you will work broadly on mechanical assignments within the marine industry. You will, among other things: - Perform corrective maintenance and repair work on vessels – from engines to propellers - Work with the renovation, assembly, and welding of marine components - Participate in both short and long-term projects, where assignments can last from a few days to several weeks - Travel to various shipyards, ports, and vessels around the world – where there are problems, we are there - Occasionally lead on-site work as a foreman or project-leading assembler, and sometimes actively participate in operational tasks alongside colleagues The work is varied and requires you to adapt quickly to new situations, environments, and people. One day you might be troubleshooting an engine in Norway – the next day you could be at a shipyard in Germany or on a boat heading to Svalbard. **Our Offer** At DESAB, you get more than just a regular job – you receive a role that is both varied and challenging. You will travel to different projects and solve technical problems while developing within a broad and technically interesting industry. We value community and collaboration even when working remotely, and you will have significant responsibility and trust to manage tasks on-site. The work can be intense, but we strive to maintain a balance with recovery and rest between assignments. We are looking for someone with a mechanical background and a genuine interest in technology and machinery. Equally important as your technical skills is your ability to communicate and collaborate with people in various situations. To thrive in this role, we see that you: - Have experience in mechanical work, for example, in workshops, industry, agriculture, or other machine-related fields - Are solution-oriented, practical, and can take initiative when problems arise - Are social, unpretentious, and can engage with different people in an open and respectful manner - Have order and structure, while also being flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing conditions We prefer that you have experience with traveling work so that you understand what it entails and that it suits you. It is also important that you have a positive attitude toward working in various locations and can think creatively when materials or parts are not always readily available. You need to be able to communicate in Swedish and English and have a driver's license. **More About the Position and Recruitment Process** As a traveling assembler at DESAB, you will typically be on assignment for about a week at a time, but projects can vary from three days up to six or seven weeks (sometimes even longer). The work consists of both planned assignments and urgent repairs, often at shipyards or directly onboard vessels. Jobs take place both in Sweden and abroad, most commonly in Northern Europe but sometimes further afield. You will be part of an experienced team where we always support each other, and there is always someone to contact even when you are alone with a problem at the dock in a new port. We are looking for several new traveling assemblers and are recruiting on an ongoing basis. If you have questions about the position, you are warmly welcome to contact CEO William Ahdrian at +46 31 350 24 15 or [email protected]. Apply by clicking on "Apply Now" and fill out the form with relevant selection questions. If you wish, you can also attach your CV, but it is not a requirement. We look forward to your application!
