About the Workplace
Österlens Folk High School has a long tradition as a folk high school and has been operating since 1907. Located in Tomelilla municipality, it is owned and operated by a non-profit association, politically and religiously independent. The association's mission is based on a humanistic worldview and the premise of equal human dignity. The school's mission is to meet people's needs for education, culture, and personal and social development. We have approximately 300 participants, some of whom live in our dormitory, creating a social community and making the folk high school experience unique. The school offers a wide range of education including general courses with various focuses, specialized courses in game development, writing, and music courses. The educational offerings change over time depending on society's needs and requirements. Here, students create important tools to realize their future plans and become wiser about themselves, life, and the world - folk high school is simply a unique form of education. Österlens Folk High School is a school in Tomelilla, Österlen, where nature, culture, and creativity meet. We offer a work climate characterized by trust, development, and collaboration, supported by a board and organization that wants to grow and develop.
Your Role & Responsibilities
As principal, you will lead the entire organization with clear direction and goals:
You are the pedagogical leader with responsibility for staff, budget, and overall operations.
• You take both strategic and operational responsibility – setting the course while being close to daily operations.
• You represent the school externally and build long-term, sustainable relationships with partners and clients.
• You ensure quality and economics – maintaining high standards, ensuring efficient resource use, and maintaining stable finances.
• You drive development based on the school's values and vision, daring to challenge, try new things, and think ahead.
More About the Position
· You will collaborate closely with support functions like deputy principal, economist, career counselor, etc., to strengthen collective development.
· Your mission includes monitoring relevant trends and requirements, and translating them into actions that strengthen both the school and society.
· You are responsible for property management and development.
· You report directly to the board, prepare matters, and present proposals at board meetings.

Qualifications
· You have higher education in an area the employer deems relevant.
· Experience with folk high school is a strong merit. So is experience as a principal with personnel management.
· You have proven ability to lead work and drive development projects. You understand folk education ideas and the unique folk high school educational form.
· You have been responsible for personnel, economic, and operational issues. Experience collaborating with union organizations is required.

The position is a semester-based, permanent 100% employment with unregulated working hours.
We apply a 6-month probationary period. Start date June 1, 2026, or by agreement. Interviews will take place during weeks 2 and 3.
