About the Company
Do you want to help create the resource school of the future – where students can grow, succeed, and feel hope?
Magelungen is seeking an engaged principal for the resource school in Södertälje. With us, you will have a role with significant responsibility and a unique opportunity to contribute to real change by leading an operation where teaching and psychosocial interventions work together in a cohesive school environment.
We offer education and treatment, where schooling is integrated with skills training and therapy. Our operations are characterized by a collaborative spirit among various professions. In addition to educators, we have behavioral scientists, social workers, and family therapists, who, together with school staff, provide students with support in their development. The school caters to students in grades 4–9 with extensive needs for special support. The students we encounter often face social, psychosocial, or neuropsychiatric challenges and frequently have a long history of school absenteeism. To meet our students' needs, we work with small group sizes, high staff density, enhanced student social support, and individually tailored programs – always based on each student's circumstances and needs.
Our work is founded on a systemic and salutogenic perspective, focusing on the whole, strengths, and what works. We strive to create structure and predictability, so that all students have a chance to succeed based on their conditions. We believe in every student's ability to succeed and see it as our mission to make that possible. With curiosity, trust, and perseverance, we create the conditions necessary for each student to take the next step in their development, both academically and as individuals.
Our organization is non-profit and employee-owned, a conscious choice that reflects our commitment and long-term vision.
Your Responsibilities
As a principal at Magelungen, you will lead the operations in a shared leadership model alongside the treatment manager. Your primary focus will be to lead and develop teaching in accordance with the Education Act, based on each student's individual needs. Together, you will be responsible for both the educational and psychosocial development of the school.
You will be actively present in daily operations and lead the unit in close dialogue with both students and staff. In the interdisciplinary team, you will co-create with management, staff, and student health services to collectively meet each student's individual needs. Through systematic quality work, close collaboration, and a strong non-profit foundation, we create an environment where students have access to small teaching groups, high staff density, and enhanced student health services.
The role includes responsibility for education, personnel, finances, and the work environment. You will further develop the existing operations by driving change initiatives with engagement, participation, and clear strategies for collaboration, both internally and externally. Under your leadership, conditions will be created for sustainable finances and effective resource utilization.
Magelungen operates facilities across the country, and you will be part of a principal team within primary education, alongside other principals led by the school manager. Throughout the year, we have both physical and digital meetings.
Your Profile
You thrive and are driven by working with our target group of students and have a genuine interest in their development. Curiosity, flexibility, and the courage to see new opportunities for each student are central traits of yours. As a leader, you work long-term to build an engaged and inclusive culture where everyone feels seen and involved. Your leadership is characterized by clarity, commitment, and warmth, which fosters trust and joy at work among staff.
We are looking for a principal with completed or ongoing principal training and a teaching license for primary education. Personal suitability is of great importance. You are motivated by being a present leader, close to both students and staff in daily operations. As we are an organization in constant development, you need to be flexible, proactive, and capable of finding new solutions. You possess strong communication skills and build trusting relationships both internally and externally.
You have documented experience in school leadership and a background in both primary education and special educational activities. Experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) and psychosocial issues is an advantage.
Magelungen Offers
