Legal Secretariat, Ministry of Education
Do you have a solid legal background and want to work with legislative issues in a dynamic, developing, and socially important environment in a unit with high job satisfaction? We are now seeking a lawyer for the Legal Secretariat, responsible for legal matters related to the government's education, research, and space policy. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to legislative development and work on complex legal issues at a high level in close collaboration with the political leadership and other stakeholders.

As a lawyer, you will work with both legislative work and other legal issues related to the Ministry of Education's areas of responsibility. You will play a central role in developing legislative council referrals, propositions, and ordinances, as well as reviewing and proposing decisions in other government matters and agreements. A common aspect of the work is also providing information and advice on legal issues to the political leadership and the department's subject units and other secretariats, as well as preparing background materials for various types of consultations. In addition to national legislation, the work may also involve EU issues and other international matters. The work is characterized by numerous contacts both within the department, with other departments, and with our agencies.

Your Background
We are seeking someone with a law degree of 270 credits or equivalent and a background as a court of appeals or administrative court of appeals assessor, or with other equivalent experience in qualified legal work. You need to have a good ability to conduct in-depth legal analyses and have broad legal expertise. You also have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
To thrive in the role, you need to be analytical, thorough, and have good judgment. The work is varied, which requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and under time pressure. We are looking for someone with a solution-focused approach and a flexible attitude. The work requires that you can collaborate well with others and work independently.
It is meritorious if you have experience from previous work within the Government Offices or the investigative system. Experience with legal issues within the Ministry of Education's areas of responsibility, drafting legislative text, and working with qualified administrative law issues is also meritorious.

For legal experts, there may be the possibility of remote work from our offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, Jönköping, or Umeå, by agreement. We apply individual salary setting.
Depending on your background, we offer either a six-year appointment as a legal expert or a permanent position as a department secretary. The position is full-time.
A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
