The Karlstad Region Fire Service works to ensure that people living and staying in the member municipalities of Forshaga, Grums, Hammarö, Karlstad, Kil, and Munkfors are safe and secure. The advertised position is organized under the operational support department, which provides expertise in HR, IT, finance, communication, and information security to support our operations. This department is also responsible for our document management, record-keeping, archives, and administration for our political leadership. **Description** Do you want to contribute to a safe and secure society while developing in an important and varied role? Then you might be the economist we are looking for! As an economist with us, you will become a key person in ensuring an efficient and sustainable economy. You will work closely with the organization and play an important role in supporting both management and colleagues with analyses, budgeting, follow-up, and strategic planning. In the role of economist, you will also be a crucial part of the work to develop civil defense and ensure the fire service's readiness in heightened preparedness (RUHB). You will collaborate closely with both our own organization and the Karlstad municipality, which manages parts of our financial administration through a service agreement. **Responsibilities** As an economist in the fire service, you will work strategically and competently to develop our economy and operations. Your tasks will include, among other things, operational orientation, budgeting and forecasting, operational planning, follow-up, accounting, internal control, as well as the preparation of annual and interim reports in close collaboration with the departments of the organization. You will also be responsible for purchasing and procurement for the federation. You will serve as a presenter on financial matters at management meetings and will participate in networks within the Karlstad municipality group, the fire service federation, and the Bergslagen Rescue Region. You will be the local support for our finance and planning systems by providing support and training in these areas. **Qualifications** We are looking for candidates with relevant academic training in finance and experience in qualified financial work and/or similar background/experience that we consider equivalent. As a person, you are attentive, analytical, driven, and have a structured approach to work. You easily build trust and foster a good collaborative climate, while also being self-directed and taking the initiative to contribute to various networks and organizational development. To thrive in this role, we also see that you are receptive, communicative, and have a strong ability to articulate clearly in both speech and writing. You will be responsible for writing service memos and reports presented to our political leadership, which requires pedagogical skills and clarity. You have a knack for explaining financial relationships in an understandable way and always keep the best interests of the organization in focus. Experience working in the public sector is advantageous.
