About this role

Are you a lawyer with solid experience who wants to contribute to a socially important mission by working with court processes and complex legal issues? Then we have the job for you! We are an expert authority in Strängnäs with a significant and important mission, and we want your help to make the Gaming Inspectorate even better. What You Will Work With You will be located in the Legal Department, which currently consists of four experienced lawyers and is led by the Chief Legal Counsel. We have an unpretentious and stimulating work environment with high ceilings where we stand together in solidarity. The Legal Department provides expert legal support to the authority's other departments, Director General, and Board. The department also represents the authority in court and is responsible, among other things, for internal training in several legal areas for the authority's employees. Court processes can be complex while legislation is relatively new and changing, which means that precedent is often lacking. The current position involves representing the authority in court and supporting the operational department's work with licensing, permissions, interventions, and supervision. You will also work on regulatory development, referrals, and certain strategic cross-agency legal issues. Your Background and Competence We are looking for someone who is a Court of Appeal assessor or has experience we deem equivalent. You should have several years of experience in qualified legal work and working with court processes. Experience in oral court proceedings and legislative and regulatory work is meritorious. You should have an excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. Experience with gaming legislation can also be advantageous. We place great importance on your personal qualities. About the Gaming Inspectorate 5 million Swedes gamble for money and 200,000 play almost every day. The Gaming Inspectorate therefore has an important mission to ensure that the Swedish gaming market is legal, reliable, and safe. We check that the gaming companies we have licensed take responsibility for the players and the games they offer. We only give licenses to gaming companies that meet the requirements and work to keep unlicensed gaming companies away from the Swedish gaming market. We offer you the opportunity for a stimulating and varied job, with committed colleagues and good benefits, such as wellness programs, the ability to work remotely half of your working time, and flexible working hours. The Gaming Inspectorate is a growing authority with currently about 80 employees. We work in pleasant premises with private offices. The authority is located in Strängnäs with good commuting options. For example, you can reach us by train from Stockholm in less than an hour. Practical Information This is a permanent position with a six-month probationary period. A background check will be conducted through the criminal record register according to the regulation (1999:1134) on criminal records before employment.
