About this role

County Administrative Board's approximately 300 employees work as the government's representative at the regional level. Our mission is to develop the county and ensure that national political goals are implemented locally. We strive to be a discrimination-free authority and want to leverage the qualities that diversity brings to our operations. The Rural Development Unit is one of the county administrative board's seven units with approximately 40 employees. The unit is responsible for project and investment support, animal and area-based subsidies, advisory services and courses for agricultural companies, agricultural supervision, animal register controls, land acquisition permits for agricultural and forestry properties, and monitoring of basic payment services. The unit also manages the Interreg Sweden-Norway program, for which the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County is the managing authority. The unit has overall responsibility for rural issues and ensures agricultural and rural focus in cross-sectoral collaboration at the County Administrative Board. We employ experts in these areas who are eager to share their knowledge. We work with respect, professionalism, and openness for the county's residents – together for a sustainable future! Description Do you want to contribute to a sustainable and competitive agriculture? At the Rural Development Unit, we work to develop the countryside and strengthen food production throughout the county. You will be part of the Rural Development function within the Rural Development Unit. A key part of our work is offering advice and competence-enhancing initiatives for farmers. We are now seeking someone who wants to work with skills development, with a particular focus on agriculture and animal husbandry. Job Responsibilities You will become part of an engaged team that plans, implements, and leads competence development within the common agricultural policy. The work involves independently and collaboratively conducting courses, advisory services, and farm meetings for experience exchange. You will also coordinate external actors that the county administrative board contracts for various activities. You will have the opportunity to connect agricultural needs with our mission to strengthen the county's food production and rich cultural landscape. In this role, you will be involved in the entire project chain – from application, planning, implementation to follow-up and reporting of both finances and results. You will collaborate with industry actors and organizations, other county administrative boards, and colleagues within our own authority. Your expertise in agricultural animals and husbandry will contribute to highlighting agriculture's perspective in the County Administrative Board's broad work, such as in cross-sectoral groups and when responding to referrals. The position will also include other tasks depending on your experience and competence. Qualifications We are seeking candidates who are agronomists, agricultural technicians, or have other post-secondary education relevant to the position. You have several years of work experience and have worked with issues related to agriculture and agricultural animals. You are self-motivated, structured, and take own initiatives. You are easy to collaborate with and build good relationships, both within the authority and with external actors. You have the ability to see a holistic perspective for different needs and have a good understanding of agricultural enterprises' conditions in the county. When meeting farmers, you are relationship-oriented and able to see the big picture. You express yourself clearly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. The position involves travel, primarily within the county and not always connected to public transportation, which means a B driver's license is required for the position. Longer trips with overnight stays may also occur. Meritorious It is an advantage if you have experience with advisory services, project work, and/or work in public service. Additionally, having an established network within the agricultural industry is considered meritorious. Terms At the County Administrative Board, we apply individual salary setting based on your competencies and previous experiences. The position requires you to be largely present at the office in Östersund. We offer meaningful work with varied tasks. You will make a difference for our county and society. The County Administrative Board is a broad authority, which means you will constantly have opportunities to develop and learn new things across several policy areas. As an employer, we focus heavily on good employment conditions, active workplace environment work, and health-promoting fitness activities. We value collaboration with our union representatives and can offer remote work. For a permanent position at the County Administrative Board, you will be war-placed at the authority. Depending on the position, it may include service in a crisis staff and security classification. We typically begin with a probationary period for permanent positions.
