The County Administrative Board's approximately 300 employees work as the government's representative at the regional level. Our mission is to develop the county and ensure that national political goals are implemented locally. The Rural Development Unit is one of the County Administrative Board's seven units, with around 40 employees.
The unit is responsible for project and investment support, animal and area-based subsidies, advice and courses for agricultural businesses, oversight within agriculture, registry checks on animals, land acquisition permits for agricultural and forestry properties, and monitoring of basic payment services. The unit also oversees the Interreg Sweden-Norway program, for which the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County is the managing authority. The unit has overall responsibility for rural development issues and is accountable for agricultural and rural focus in the cross-sectoral collaboration at the County Administrative Board. Our team includes experts in these areas who are eager to share their knowledge.

**Description**
We are looking for someone passionate about rural development who wants to contribute to valuable growth within the green sectors in Jämtland County.
You are preferably a biologist or natural scientist with knowledge of forestry and agriculture.
As an advisor and administrator with us, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in both agricultural and forestry issues. You will work both within your unit and in collaboration with other units, farmers, and other stakeholders in the county. **Responsibilities**
Your role is crucial to our efforts to develop Jämtland County. You will provide support in agricultural and forestry matters with a clear rural development perspective. In this role, you will have significant responsibility and will work both strategically and operationally.
Examples of your tasks include:
- Providing advice within the framework of the Targeted Agricultural Landscape and contributing to projects for skills development in grazing issues for farmers.
- Surveying meadows and pastures and guiding support for the restoration of meadows and pastures.
- Developing the regional forestry program for collaboration on forestry issues in Jämtland County.
- Creating projects and seeking funding related to forestry as a resource.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for someone who is engaged in agricultural and forestry issues with a focus on agricultural businesses and their conditions. You are proactive and can work independently under your own responsibility. At the same time, you are good at collaborating and building relationships with both colleagues and external partners. You communicate clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing in Swedish, and can convey complex information in an understandable way.
To succeed in this role, you need to see the big picture and understand how different rural issues are interconnected. You have an understanding of the agricultural landscape with its lands and usage. You are structured and have the ability to find sustainable solutions to challenges that arise.

In addition, we are looking for someone who has:
- At least three years of higher education in a natural science field, preferably in biology, forestry, ecology, or a similar area that we deem relevant.
- A valid driver's license (B), as the position requires travel by car where public transport is not available.
- Good knowledge of wild plants, meadows and pastures, including natural pastures, and forestry.
- Experience in advising, guiding, or working with business contacts.
**Meritorious**
- Fieldwork experience, such as surveying wild plants and/or surveying and restoring pastures.
- Experience in forest production or working with forestry issues from a landowner's perspective.
- Experience in governmental work.
