Job Responsibilities
At Adult Psychiatric Clinic 1, working as a psychologist involves collaborating in our interprofessional team with other staff at the clinic. We offer you a stimulating and varied job involving different types of assessments, consultation interviews, and treatments. The work involves working independently, in collaboration with other professional categories, and in groups. We treat and meet patients with general psychiatric issues, various forms of anxiety, depression, social phobia, ADHD, bipolar disorder, emotionally unstable personality syndrome, PTSD, and OCD.
At Adult Psychiatric Clinic 1, we offer you a good work environment, a private office, and opportunities for learning and skills development. All our practitioners have access to mentorship and supervision. We strive to provide quick and excellent patient care regarding assessment, investigation, and treatment. We also offer patients various group treatment options, including UP group, STAIR group, and ADHD Step 2 group. We are also in the process of launching digital treatment in the form of I-CBT.
About the Workplace
Adult Psychiatric Clinic 1 in Västerås is part of the specialist psychiatry in Region Västmanland and serves patients with mental health issues requiring specialized care in Västerås, Surahammar, and Hallstahammar municipalities. We receive patients based on their birth dates, days 1-10. Our guidance has been to create a well-functioning care chain with good collaboration between emergency care, inpatient care, and outpatient care. The clinic employs doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and administrative staff.
We work in two teams and strive to provide our patients with quick, high-quality care and professional treatment. We are a well-functioning clinic characterized by lots of laughter, openness, collaboration, and respect for each other's expertise.

New as a Psychologist
For newly licensed psychologists, we offer a two-year competence package to provide a smoother transition from PTP psychologist to licensed psychologist.
The competence package includes:
• Workplace-specific course
• Participation in a national/Nordic conference
• Observation in primary care, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, or forensic psychiatry (total of five days)
• Opportunity to attend supervisor training in year 2
• Personal follow-up with an experienced psychologist
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a licensed psychologist with a Swedish psychology degree, preferably with CBT orientation, or is starting PTP or has received approval from the National Board of Health and Welfare to complete PTP. If you have approval from the National Board of Health and Welfare, it must be attached to the application.
Experience in treatment work, social psychiatry, or psychiatric care is meritorious. Good computer skills and experience with the Cosmic journal system is an advantage. As the role requires communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues, excellent Swedish language skills in speech and writing are required.
As a person, you are attentive and have a good ability to understand others' situations. You have personal maturity, are confident and stable. You have a respectful and good approach to both patients and colleagues. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. To enjoy the work, you need to be self-driven with good judgment and empathetic abilities.
Employment Terms
Temporary position, full-time. Start date from January 1st or by agreement.
