About this role
Umeå is one of four locations in Sweden with a National Gymnasium for Students with Physical Disabilities (RgRh) – a program for young people with significant physical disabilities who require a tailored educational path during their high school years.
The National Gymnasium consists of a school, habilitation services, and student accommodations that together provide students with support to develop and achieve their goals. Adjacent to Dragonskolan, one of Sweden's largest schools, the habilitation services offer individualized interventions integrated within the school environment.
The Habilitation Team is part of Umeå's High School and Adult Education Board and works with students admitted to the National Gymnasium. The habilitation services are based on each student's individual circumstances and aim for personal development and improved physical, mental, and social functioning. The work is conducted in close collaboration between occupational therapists, social workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, nurses, and doctors – as well as in cooperation with schools, student accommodations, and other stakeholders.
We are now seeking a psychologist to join our team!
Your Responsibilities
The interventions are carried out in accordance with the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL) and are based on the individual needs of the student. The work includes individual counseling sessions with students, assessments of cognitive functions, and standard tasks for psychologists within habilitation.
You will contribute your professional expertise to the habilitation team and be responsible for a number of students, which involves coordinating interventions and monitoring the student’s development. Together with other professionals, you will also participate in operational development and quality work to continuously improve support and methods within the National Gymnasium.
About You
We are looking for a licensed psychologist with an interest in working in an environment focused on youth development. You have experience in providing individual counseling and conducting assessments of cognitive functions, intellectual disabilities, and neuropsychiatric conditions. Experience working within habilitation and interdisciplinary teams is advantageous.
We prefer candidates who have advanced training in neuropsychology and are familiar with assessment work.
As a person, you are structured, flexible, and development-oriented. You possess a strong ability to plan and prioritize, are eager to contribute to the development of the organization, and see opportunities in change. Since collaboration with schools, student accommodations, and other entities is a central part of the role, you need to have good teamwork skills, initiative, and the ability to build positive relationships. You are an important part of the team but also enjoy working independently and taking responsibility for your own cases. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.
To communicate with students, guardians, and colleagues, the position requires strong proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as well as good digital competence.
In accordance with the law on suitability checks, a criminal record extract must be presented upon employment.
Welcome with your application!
