Malmö Opera is the heart and voice of musical drama in Skåne. The house was inaugurated in 1944 and is centrally located in the Öresund region, just 20 minutes from Copenhagen. The stage is one of the largest in Europe, and the amphitheater-shaped auditorium can accommodate 1,500 visitors. We perform classical, modern, and newly written musical drama. Malmö Opera has over 285 permanent employees and 500-700 production-engaged staff per season. During a performance year, we produce over 300 performances for the main stage, as well as for children's, youth, and touring activities. Job Description and Qualifications: Malmö Opera Chorus participates in productions from the entire repertoire of musical theater with the highest international standard. We are seeking singers for the following voice types: • Alto 1 • Alto 2 We are looking for someone who is a strong team player and feels comfortable as part of a choir. To succeed in the position, you need to have a positive, tolerant, and flexible attitude. Furthermore, the following is required: • Higher education in singing from a recognized institution • Experience in opera, musical, and concert repertoire as both soloist and chorister • Good a vista reading of music and languages. An ability to quickly memorize music, stage experience, and good acting skills Application Process: Apply by clicking the application button below and fill out the application form. Attach a CV and a link to a mandatory audio recording of your choice, along with your audition repertoire. The recording can be sent via link or uploaded in a common audio format. It should be an aria or lied, with piano or orchestra, not older than 2 years. After listening to the recordings, selected candidates will be invited to an audition. Audition by Personal Invitation: Audition and possible call-back will take place by personal invitation between February 4th and 5th at Malmö Opera. These will be sent to you if you are called to the audition. Choral parts will be sung with sheet music. Audition Procedure: Round 1 Each candidate will sing a self-chosen mandatory aria and a self-chosen aria Round 2 Candidates selected for the second round will sing a second self-chosen aria, the mandatory choral pieces, and perform a prima vista test. Interview After Round 2, some candidates may be invited for an interview with the audition jury.
