About this role

The Department of Immunology, Genetics, and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on areas such as cancer, genetic, and autoimmune diseases. One of the core ideas at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the operations are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several program educations, independent courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has an annual budget of approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is around 400, including about 100 doctoral students, and there are over 850 active members in the workforce. SciLifeLab provides a unique international infrastructure and research environment, where groundbreaking technologies in life science are combined with expertise in data and artificial intelligence (AI). Computational methods and AI, applied to large-scale molecular data, are transforming the study of biological systems at all levels – from molecular structures and cellular processes to human health and global ecosystems. The employee will work at the SciLifeLab Data Centre, which is responsible for IT issues and research data management for SciLifeLab's technology platforms and other SciLifeLab-organized programs and activities, including the national research program for data-driven life science (DDLS). We have a national mission and provide services for life science data and e-infrastructure, as well as issues related to FAIR, open science, and data-driven research, in strong collaboration with national and international stakeholders. Job Responsibilities The SciLifeLab Data Centre is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable senior project manager who wants to help drive the development of SciLifeLab's growing ecosystem of data and IT services for data-intensive research and take a leading role in Open Science within the group. In this key role, you will be a central part of our organization, responsible for leading projects to develop and implement solutions for the structured storage and accessibility of various data types generated at SciLifeLab's infrastructures. The aim is to enable integrative analysis and provide access to multimodal datasets that are "AI-ready," with the long-term goal of creating a technology-agnostic, integrated national data resource for life science. Experience working within national and international research infrastructure, particularly in environments with multiple host universities, is especially valuable in this role. You will also play an active role in the work on open science, including communication and collaboration with other parts of SciLifeLab, as well as with national and international partners and funders. This includes, for example, our work with EOSC, monitoring the impact of publications, data, software, and other research results. A strong background and drive for Open Science are required for this role. Qualifications Applicants should have relevant education at the doctoral level, certifications, or work experience that can substantiate expertise for the role. In addition, the following is required: * At least five years of documented experience in managing and coordinating operations for data services and resources at national or international infrastructure, with multiple host institutions involved, where Open Science has played a central role. * Documented experience in leading and following up on projects funded by Horizon Europe. * Documented experience in leading and coordinating operations involving multiple national or international research infrastructures. * Documented experience in Open Science. * Documented experience from own research with strong elements of data analysis and data management. * Documented knowledge of Python. * Fluent in English. Significant emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. The applicant should have excellent collaboration skills, initiative, and good communication qualities, as well as demonstrate active professional development within the field. As a person, you should be flexible, creative, and service-oriented. You should also be quality-conscious and goal- and result-oriented. Desirable/meritorious * Knowledge or interest in open life science research and FAIR infrastructure. * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues in various fields. * Proactivity, initiative, and an interest in supporting Swedish research in data-driven, FAIR, and open life science. About the Employment The position is permanent, with a probationary period applicable. The extent is full-time. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
