About this role

The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with approximately 250 employees and over 900 individuals affiliated through Uppsala University Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in various areas. Research is conducted in close connection with the clinical activities at Uppsala University Hospital and encompasses both fundamental studies on disease causes and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. More about the department's activities can be found at https://www.uu.se/institution/medicinska-vetenskaper/ The department is now seeking a project assistant with expertise in lung function diagnostics for the research groups in Lung, Allergy, and Sleep Research (https://www.uu.se/institution/medicinska-vetenskaper/forskning/forskargrupper/lung--allergi--och-somnforskning) and Clinical Physiology (https://www.uu.se/institution/medicinska-vetenskaper/forskning/forskargrupper/klinisk-fysiologi). Currently, there are two research nurses, two research BMA (Biomedical Analysts), and several researchers employed within the groups. **Job Responsibilities** As a project assistant, you will have varied and developmental tasks. You will work closely with our research staff, responsible investigators, and research leaders. We also maintain close collaboration with several other research groups at Uppsala University Hospital. Our group is engaged in a number of national and international collaborative projects, and you may therefore work as a project member in local, national, and international studies. Your tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following: - Recruiting and managing contacts with research participants - Conducting your own visits with research participants, which includes performing lung function tests, polygraphy, collecting and documenting examination results in study protocols and medical records - Being responsible for the calibration of measurement equipment - Assisting in various parts of our research projects, such as patient recruitment, data collection, and data management - Inputting research data from other previously conducted research studies **Qualifications** - Trained nursing assistant or equivalent healthcare education with experience in blood sampling - Documented experience working in large research studies - Experience independently performing dynamic spirometry, impulse oscillometry, measurements of diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide, and exhaled nitric oxide - Since you will have your own visits with research participants, good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite. Some studies will involve collaboration with other research nurses, research BMAs, research administrators, and clinical departments. We are therefore looking for an energetic person who wants to work in a team while also being independent, flexible, and results-oriented. The work also requires you to be quality-conscious, service-oriented, and responsible, as well as able to plan and prioritize your tasks. Furthermore, great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, such as flexibility and problem-solving ability. **Desirable/meritorious** It is desirable that you have good oral and written skills in English. **About the Position** The position is temporary for 12 months.
