We host numerous large international and interdisciplinary research projects in areas such as theoretical and practical philosophy, logic, linguistics, computational linguistics, language technology, and theory of science. Our research has many applications and collaborations with other scientific fields, including biology, computer science, economics, history of ideas, law, medicine, psychology, religion, political science, and engineering sciences. We educate philosophers, logicians, linguists, language technologists, science theorists, historians of philosophy, and philosophy teachers. The department also conducts doctoral education and development work in its fields. Work Tasks Within the RJ-funded research program Change is Key!, we are building methods to automatically detect language changes and support research in text-based humanities and social sciences. As part of this work, we require digital text masses to be manually annotated with linguistic information (such as text parts like articles or paragraphs, part of speech, clause parts, named expressions, conferences) and for isolated linguistic units (words, sentences, etc.) to be classified according to various linguistic properties (e.g., "same or different meaning", "positive or negative attitude"). The main work tasks will consist of such linguistic analysis and annotation of materials in Swedish and/or English. Qualifications For this position, skills are required either in Swedish at language level C2 or in English at native speaker level. Additionally, the ability to perform linguistic analysis, acquired through academic studies in language technology/computational linguistics, linguistics/general linguistics, Swedish, or another language subject is required. Employment Intermittent employment, needs-based hourly position. A total of 200 hours will likely be distributed among one or more persons based on an assessment of merit, skill, and individual availability. Position located at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, University of Gothenburg. The selected candidate may be offered hours from February 1, 2026, to the end of November 2026. Hourly wage of 140 SEK per worked hour. Payment will occur the month following work completion.
