The Stockholm East operational area includes the two closed prisons, Österåker and Täby. Our staff primarily consists of correctional officers, but also includes healthcare professionals, teachers, administrators, production leaders, and other essential professions. Clients at the prisons are engaged in treatment programs, education, workshop work, as well as assembly and packaging tasks – all aimed at creating structure, meaning, and opportunities for a better future.
Österåker Prison is currently in an exciting expansion phase with new prison places and employment facilities set to open between 2025 and 2027. There are excellent opportunities to grow with the organization – both in terms of the number of employees and in new, exciting roles. The prison is located outside Åkersberga – perfect for those who appreciate avoiding rush hour traffic. The easiest way to get here is by car. Täby Prison is a small facility with a family-like environment and good commuting options. Both prisons offer staff parking.
We prioritize a health-promoting work environment, and at Österåker Prison, there is a staff gym. Additionally, there is a popular staff restaurant where you can eat and socialize with your colleagues.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The work of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is to implement the sanctions imposed by the courts and to prevent recidivism. To promote reintegration into society after serving a sentence, an individually tailored execution plan is established for each inmate. Part of the content of the plan consists of treatment programs that are conducted both individually and in groups. It is important that the outcomes of the interventions in the plan are regularly followed up and documented. The treatment programs are evidence-based and primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and social learning theory. The programs mainly target violence, domestic violence, crime, and substance abuse. To be eligible for further training in some of the more qualified programs, you must have an academic education with a focus on behavioral sciences.
The program leader's responsibilities also include planning, developing, and following up on treatment-oriented work together with the correctional supervisor (manager), program leaders, and staff from certain other functions. All activities are conducted without compromising safety.
