About this role

Are you interested in further developing an exciting research environment in the field of Management? We are now seeking a professor for the Department of Movement, Culture, and Society! Subject Description At GIH, research, education, and collaboration are conducted in sports science. Sports science is a multidisciplinary subject that takes its starting point in sports practices, illuminated through humanistic, social scientific, medical, and natural scientific perspectives. The Department of Movement, Culture, and Society (RKS) is responsible for conducting research, education, and collaboration in the subject areas of management, pedagogy, and didactics – with a focus on sports and health. The department is responsible for several educational programs, including teacher training in the school subject of sports and health, complementary pedagogical education, Sport Management and Health Management programs, several independent courses, and the specialization in Sustainable Sports and Health Development within GIH's master's program. The field of Management encompasses studies of organization, leadership, and development within health and sports as societal areas and cultural phenomena. Your Role As a professor of management at GIH, you will be a central force in building a research environment and establishing a research area that contributes new knowledge about organizing, leading, and developing health and sports, focusing on aspects such as organizational cultures, governance models, leadership functions, ethical approaches, and sustainability perspectives. The role includes taking holistic responsibility: leading and collaborating with other researchers while also conducting high-level research independently and/or with others. You will initiate and coordinate research projects and actively seek competitive external research funding. You will deepen collaborations with researchers and research environments both nationally and internationally, and contribute to growing scientific publication in the field. The role also includes teaching students, supervising doctoral students, supporting newly graduated researchers, and strengthening research anchoring in GIH's educational programs. This includes teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, as well as certain administrative tasks that are a natural part of the work. At GIH, you will become part of an interdisciplinary context where development drive and societal relevance are central. The RKS department currently has nearly 30 doctoral researchers and about ten doctoral students with expertise in areas such as sports science, sports history, sports sociology, sports culture, sport management, health science, sports and health pedagogy, sports and health didactics, educational history, and educational science. We collaborate through research seminars, writing applications and articles, and joint participation in scientific conferences. The role also offers great opportunities for personal development. As a higher education institution, GIH is a government agency, and as an employee, you will receive good benefits through our collective agreement. We believe you will contribute to the department's and the institution's strategic development while working in accordance with shared strategies and goals. We therefore think you also have an interest and suitability for taking on other leadership, responsibility, and development assignments. Eligibility Requirements Eligible for employment are those who have demonstrated extensive scientific and pedagogical skills, have a doctoral degree in disciplines or subject areas that the employer deems relevant for management as a research field, have been the primary supervisor for at least one doctoral student through to dissertation, and have completed at least 7.5 higher education credits of higher education pedagogical training or have equivalent competence as assessed by the employer. The applicant should have a very good ability to conduct research and have demonstrated skills in leading and developing decided activities at a university or college. Furthermore, the applicant should have documented experience in independently planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing teaching, supervision, and examination at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral education levels, and have pedagogical experience with different teaching forms. An additional requirement is a good ability to communicate research results and collaborate with the surrounding society. The applicant should also collaborate well and be able to communicate and teach in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing, and have the overall ability and suitability needed for the position. Assessment Grounds • Ability and experience in: initiating and developing research activities, leading, collaborating with, and supporting other researchers, seeking and obtaining competitive external research grants, and anchoring research in education. • Personal suitability for the position, where personal qualities valued highly include attentiveness, responsibility, thoroughness, and independence. • Interest in, familiarity with, and knowledge of sports and/or health as societal areas and cultural phenomena. • Administrative skills and experience relevant to the position's work tasks. • Interest and suitability for various management, responsibility, and development assignments at the college. Duration/Working Hours The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date according to agreement. Salary
