The Defense Music is the Swedish Armed Forces' function for military music. Defense Music will celebrate its 500th anniversary in 2026 and has played a significant role in the Armed Forces and Swedish music life over the centuries.
The Defense Music function consists of the professional music bands: the Army Music Corps, the Life Guards' Dragon Music Corps, and the Navy Music Corps, as well as the 25 Home Guard music bands and the Armed Forces' field artists' war organization. In addition, Defense Music engages contract music bands for special assignments.
Each year, Defense Music conducts over 1,400 music performances, both large and small. This occurs within the state ceremonial area, at unit ceremonies and concerts, through public concerts and tours, both in Sweden and internationally.
The Navy Music Corps is a ceremonial band for parades and ceremonies, as well as a symphonic wind orchestra with a broad repertoire. The music corps consists of 30 musicians and is based in Karlskrona.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the execution of the music corps' concert productions
- Manage the music corps' substitute handling
- Provide practical support to the stage manager during concerts
- Participate in the planning of the music corps' activities
- Contribute to special working and project groups within the music corps and Defense Music
**Qualifications**
- Broad musical knowledge
- Experience in orchestral activities or equivalent
- Experience in touring activities
- Good physical condition
- Proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good IT skills
- B driver's license
**Meritorious**
- Experience in lighting and sound technology and photography
- Knowledge of the business system SAP/PRIO
- Heavy vehicle license (truck/bus)
**Working Conditions**
- The work takes place at various locations with irregular working hours and in varying conditions and environments, both indoors and outdoors, in Sweden and abroad.
- As we are a small administration, we help each other when the work requires it, which means you must be flexible and prepared to occasionally work on other tasks.
- The position is a civilian role, but work is also conducted in uniform.
