About this role

**About the Job** Interest in Swedish aid is significant among journalists, and Sida is now expanding our communications unit with a press service. This position is important, and as a press secretary, you will contribute to a strategic media effort with proactivity and excellent service to journalists. You will work independently in close collaboration with two colleagues in the press service, other communicators in the editorial team and the unit, as well as the agency's subject matter experts. The role requires a good understanding of Sida's mission and close cooperation with the Director General's staff and management team. You will report to the Head of Communications. Our communication efforts aim to provide an accurate and fair representation of Swedish aid, contribute to increased transparency regarding its implementation and the results it leads to. A key part of the work involves strategic management of Sida's media relations, producing content, and supporting managers and employees who act as spokespersons in the media. The work is coordinated with content production for the web, social media, and internal communication, with the ambition to utilize the content developed across multiple channels. You will belong to the communications unit in the Results Department at our office in Rissne. **Responsibilities** - Proactively identify news within Sida's operations, balancing the demands for factual accuracy and objectivity with clarity, and transform it into engaging content that attracts target audiences through media. - Monitor the external environment and offer Sida's expertise in relevant contexts. - Produce talking points, formulate messages, write press releases, opinion pieces, and content for social media on the issues you work with. - Advise and coach spokespersons representing Swedish aid through Sida in the media. - Participate in efforts to measure, analyze, and follow up on media coverage. - Coordinate media relations with other actors within the foreign administration, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as needed. **We Offer** We provide a workplace with good opportunities for development and an environment characterized by openness and diversity. To meet the challenges the world faces today and in the future, we need individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills. **Qualifications** **Education** - Academic education in journalism equivalent to at least three years of full-time studies or other relevant education combined with relevant professional experience. **Languages** - Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written. - Very good command of English, both spoken and written; additional language skills are valuable. **Work Experience and Knowledge** - Experience as a press secretary or journalistic work in an editorial environment with media contacts. - Experience in strategic communication and crisis communication from an organization, company, government agency, or consultancy. - Fast writer with excellent stylistic ability. - Ability to identify news angles and pitch them to the media. **Functional Competencies/Abilities:** For this role, you need to: - Manage stress, uncertainty, and risks effectively. - Collaborate well and build trusting relationships. - Translate ideas into concrete actions. - Handle resistance, be flexible, and solution-oriented. - Communicate strategically to influence, negotiate, and mobilize. - Contribute to and absorb knowledge and evidence. - Translate experiences and lessons into action. It is advantageous if you have: - Knowledge of international development cooperation and aid organizations. - Experience working in a politically governed environment and context. - Experience working integratively with traditional and social media. - Knowledge of publishing on own websites and social channels. - Understanding of the principles of the state’s value framework, the principle of public access to information, and the role of a civil servant. - An established network within the media. **Good to Know** This position is a temporary appointment until further notice, but no later than March 31, 2026.
