Postdoctoral Researcher in Electrical Engineering with Focus on Wireless Communication at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology
Workplace Description
You will work at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology, primarily at the Division of Communication Technology.
The division has 8 senior researchers and approximately 20 doctoral students working on wireless communication in a broad sense, with activities ranging from communication theory to channel measurements/modeling and implementation of advanced test beds. Your research will primarily be conducted within a large project involving theoretical and experimental research. The project's overall goal is to build and demonstrate the properties of fully digitized Large Intelligent Surfaces.
Specific Subject Description
The research area for this position is developing strategies for distributed processing and distributed algorithms for Large Intelligent Surfaces, including baseband processing and synchronization between multiple antenna arrays. This specifically includes method development for compensating non-ideal system components and synchronization. Developed methods can be experimentally verified and tested in the test bed being developed for Large Intelligent Surfaces at the department.
Work Responsibilities
The primary responsibility as a postdoctoral researcher is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but not exceeding one-fifth of working time. Within the employment, there is an opportunity for three weeks of higher education pedagogical training. The purpose of the position is to develop independence as a researcher and create conditions for further academic merit.
Within the Large Intelligent Surfaces project, you are expected to conduct research with the project team in selected areas, including:
- Developing strategies and algorithms for distributed baseband processing
- Developing calibration and synchronization methods and protocols
- Contributing to the construction and continuous development of the project's test bed
- Performing analytical and simulation-based evaluations of candidate algorithms and protocols for the test bed
- Evaluating and developing the Large Intelligent Surfaces concept in realistic environments using the project's test bed as an experimental platform
Additional responsibilities include:
- Teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Supervising thesis work and doctoral students
- Administration related to the above tasks
Qualifications
Eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher is someone who has completed a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree, in the employment's subject area. Proof of meeting the eligibility requirement must have been received by the time of employment decision. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their degree within the last three years. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent English skills, both spoken and written
- Documented knowledge in analysis and design of processing for Large Intelligent Surfaces, with priority for synchronization and compensation of non-ideal system components
- Experience in developing distributed algorithms
- Experience in design and analysis of wireless systems, including antenna systems, baseband processing, and system simulations
- Documented ability to collaborate with other researchers
