About this role

We have the strength of over 40,000 students and staff. Students who provide hope for the future. Staff who contribute every day to Linköping University addressing contemporary challenges. Our values are based on credibility, trust, and security. By being courageous, thinking freely, and innovating, we collectively create a better future through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us! Your Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include research in the field of theoretical modeling of disordered magnetic materials. This involves method development, large-scale computer calculations, and simulations of complex systems where magnetism is linked to atomic structure and atomic vibrations. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your responsibilities, but this will not exceed one-fifth of your working time. Your Qualifications To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a doctoral degree or possess a foreign degree that is assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be obtained no later than at the time the employment decision is made. It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. In special circumstances, a candidate who completed their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave. We are looking for someone with a PhD in theoretical physics with a focus on magnetism and disordered magnetic materials. We also believe you have experience in method development for simulating systems where disordered magnetism interacts with atomic vibrations and other types of structural disorder. Demonstrated experience in studying magnetic order-disorder transitions and simulations with coupled spin-lattice dynamics is a merit. A good ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written, is required. Proficiency in Swedish is an advantage. You are a researcher with a strong ability to work independently as well as collaborate in joint research projects within the group and with experimental research groups. Your Workplace You will work in the Department of Theoretical Physics in the Unit for Theory of Disordered Materials. About the Employment The position is a fixed-term appointment for two years, with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time. Start date is negotiable. Salary and Benefits The university applies individual salary setting; please include your salary expectations in your application. Read more about employee benefits here. Union Contacts For information about union contacts, see Help for Applicants. Application You apply for this position by clicking the "Apply" button below. Your application must be received by Linköping University no later than December 16, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, as this enriches and develops our operations. For us, it is self-evident to uphold everyone's equal value, rights, and opportunities. Read about our work with Equal Conditions. We look forward to your application!
