About this role

We have the power of over 40,000 students and employees. Students who bring hope for the future. Employees who contribute daily to Linköping University taking on contemporary challenges. Our core values rest on credibility, trust, and security. By being brave, thinking freely, and doing something new, we create a better future together, through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us! Job Responsibilities The tasks involve research on finite temperature properties of magnetic materials, focusing on lattice dynamical free energies, temperature-dependent vibrational properties, and magnon-phonon interactions using quantum mechanical methods. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be part of the job duties, however, not exceeding one-fifth of the working time. Qualifications To be eligible for the postdoctoral position, you must have completed a doctoral degree or hold a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made. It is meritorious if your degree has been completed no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, those who completed their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example, during various types of statutory leaves. We are seeking candidates with excellent knowledge of DFT-based electronic structure and lattice dynamics methods (DFPT and/or AIMD-derived phonons) and experience with scientific programming and HPC environments. You should be familiar with phonon quasi-particle concepts (self-energy, renormalized frequencies/lifetimes) and temperature-dependent force constants. Experience with magnetic materials and TDEP workflows (or similar finite-temperature frameworks) is highly meriting. Workplace You will work at Theoretical Physics, IFM, within the Ab Initio Methods and Energy Materials unit. About the Position This is a time-limited employment for two years with the possibility of extension, with a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time. Commencement by agreement. Salary and Benefits The university applies individual salary setting; please state your salary expectations in your application. Read more about employee benefits here. Union Contact Persons Information about union contact persons can be found in the Help for Applicants section. Application You apply for this position by clicking the "Apply" button below. Your application must be received by Linköping University no later than November 26, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, as this enriches and develops our operations. It is self-evident for us to safeguard everyone's equal value, rights, and opportunities. Read about our Equal Conditions work. Welcome with your application! Linköping University has procurement agreements and requests no direct contact from staffing and recruitment companies or job advertisement sellers.
