About this role

We have the strength of over 40,000 students and employees. Students who bring hope for the future. Employees who contribute every day to Linköping University addressing contemporary challenges. Our values are based on credibility, trust, and security. By being courageous, thinking freely, and innovating, we collectively create a better future through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us! Your Responsibilities You will work in Colm Nestor's research group focusing on X-chromosome biology related to women's health. The group is interdisciplinary, but the majority of your research will be computational (bioinformatics). As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your responsibilities, but it will not exceed one-fifth of your working hours. Your Qualifications To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or possess a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a degree obtained earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave. You are expected to have a PhD in medical science or a related field, with strong computational (bioinformatics) skills, a solid track record of publications in leading journals, and an enthusiastic approach to research. The position is highly computational but also requires in-depth knowledge of laboratory-based experimental genetics. You are expected to have extensive bioinformatics expertise in the analysis of multi-omic human data. Specifically, you should have substantial experience in the analysis of single-cell whole-transcript RNA-seq and allele-specific RNA-seq. You should also have strong competence in working with genomic data related to human X-inactivation, as well as documented experience in analyzing long-read nanopore sequencing data for both genetic and epigenetic information. Experience in analyzing skewed X-inactivation in humans is a requirement, as is experience in analyzing multiple types of epigenomic data. You are expected to be proficient in both English and Swedish, spoken and written. Since the project requires extensive interaction with Swedish healthcare, research volunteers, and patients, fluency in Swedish is essential. Extensive laboratory experience in human genetics and epigenetics is highly desirable, particularly practical experience with techniques such as Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays (EMSA), NGS library preparation, immuno-dot-blot, culturing human cells, CRISPR-based genetic and epigenetic editing, and Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS). Additionally, detailed knowledge of the biology behind X-chromosome inactivation (XCI) in developing mammals is advantageous. As a person, you are friendly, enthusiastic, caring, and hard-working. Your Workplace You will work in Colm Nestor's research group at the Department of Women's and Children's Health (BKH). The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) is one of the largest departments at the university, primarily operating within the medical faculty. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine with high international quality. At BKV, you will find leading research with both depth and breadth across a wide spectrum of modern biomedicine. About the Employment The position is a fixed-term employment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time. Start date is negotiable. Salary and Benefits The university applies individual salary setting; please include your salary expectations in your application.
