Project Description and Responsibilities This position is funded by the European COMFORT project (http://www.comfort-ai.eu) and AI Policy Lab at Umeå University (http://www.aipolicylab.se). COMFORT (Improve Diagnosis and Treatment of Urologic Cancers with Artificial Intelligence-Driven Decision Support Tool) develops a groundbreaking AI-driven decision support system to help healthcare professionals provide improved care for individuals affected by prostate cancer (PCa) or kidney cancer (KC). The first phase of this postdoctoral research will focus on modeling AI reliability and explainability in medical data and models, with particular emphasis on fairness and privacy. The second phase will investigate how AI governance and policy can be integrated with the first phase results. The successful candidate will be part of the Responsible Artificial Intelligence and Deep Data Mining research groups at the Department of Computing Science, collaborating with researchers in data science, machine learning, and responsible AI. Candidates who have completed their doctoral degree within the last three years are primarily considered. Special circumstances may allow candidates who completed their doctorate earlier, including parental leave, medical leave, union responsibilities, total defense service, or other similar circumstances. The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, mathematics, or technical physics.
