Postdoc Position in Protein Biochemistry at Chalmers University of Technology
We are looking for a postdoc to join our team at the Department of Life Sciences, Chalmers University of Technology. Become part of our innovative group and contribute to exciting research in the field of protein biochemistry.
The Mijakovic lab is offering a 24-month fixed term postdoctoral position (plus possible extension by 12 months) to a motivated candidate with experience in microbiology and protein biochemistry. With us, you will experience a dynamic and supportive work environment, with opportunities to collaborate with AI experts and state of the art proteomics platforms.
About Us
At the Department of Life Sciences, we bring together biology and technology to develop sustainable solutions for the future — from food and medicine to energy — driven by curiosity, creativity, and scientific excellence.
The Mijakovic lab started out as a microbiology group, but as our ambitions and curiosity grew, we expanded into several other areas of life science, often using interdisciplinary approaches. Today, in addition to general bacteriology, we work with applications of various nanomaterials in biomedicine and biotechnology, metabolic engineering of microbial cell factories and experimental evolution. Our work is focused on societal challenges related to human and planetary health.
Research Project
This postdoc project involves discovery of inhibitors of bacterial protein-tyrosine kinases, which will be tested for their capacity to hinder bacterial biofilm formation and virulence. The aim of the project is to generate knowledge-based peptides with the use of generative AI, and test them for kinase inhibition and prevention of biofilm formation in several relevant bacterial pathogens.
