About this role
Do you want challenging tasks and to work alongside engaged colleagues? Solna City is now seeking a planning architect who wants to contribute to the city's exciting urban development projects.
With us, you will have a varied job in a creative environment. We warmly welcome your application!
About us
Solna is one of Sweden's most growth-friendly municipalities with many exciting urban planning projects underway. In Solna, major urban planning issues are combined with the manageable organization of a small municipality. The Urban Development Administration is responsible for the city's overall environmental and climate work, physical planning, development, project management and construction, environmental monitoring, and regulatory enforcement within building permits, surveying and mapping, as well as environmental protection, health protection, and food control. The administration is characterized by a strong drive and focus on development, where the work is expected to lead to a vibrant and sustainable city, an efficient, legally sound, and service-oriented regulatory framework, as well as an attractive and sustainable workplace.
Do you have a genuine interest in urban planning and are you an educated planner, architect, or have an equivalent higher education? We at Solna City are now looking for a planning architect who wants to become part of our close-knit team in the planning unit. For those who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with varied tasks, this is an opportunity to be involved throughout the entire planning process.
Our offer
With us, you will have a developing and interesting job that engages you. Together with knowledgeable colleagues, you will have the opportunity to shape how Solna City should be planned. We have access to a gym in the city hall, wellness benefits, annual working hours, and continuous professional development. Our office is centrally located in Solna Center with good public transport connections. We view positively that employees are given the opportunity to work remotely up to two days a week where the operations allow.
What does the job entail?
The role of a planning architect involves developing and processing detailed plans throughout the entire planning process, from start to finish. We are a small organization, which facilitates collaboration and leads to efficient processes. The planning unit consists of seven planning architects, two comprehensive planners, and an assistant planning manager, all reporting to the planning manager. Planning work is carried out in close collaboration with the development unit and the building permit unit. We develop our detailed plans in Focus Total.
In Solna, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting urban development projects. We work at a fast pace and handle both smaller and larger, more complex detailed plans. This is something we believe you, as an applicant, will find exciting as you will have a wide range of tasks in your daily work. We have several large, exciting urban development projects underway - including a major transformation of central Solna. Additionally, there is development in Norra Hagastaden, Hagalund, and Bagartorp. Several detailed planning processes will be initiated in the spring, which means an opportunity to be involved from the start in some of the projects that the position will encompass.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is an educated physical planner, community planner, architect, or has studied an equivalent higher education. You have at least one year of experience working in a politically governed organization as a planning architect. Experience in the digitization of applicable detailed plans is an advantage but not a requirement. Great emphasis will also be placed on your personal qualities.
Since the job involves responsibility for driving the work forward, we believe that you, as an applicant, are driven and enjoy working towards goals, and also have a good structural ability to plan your work effectively. The position also requires that you are meticulous and clear, as you will be in contact with the entire planning process. Furthermore, you should have a good understanding of the planning process in the Planning and Building Act and a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. The work is carried out in close collaboration with other stakeholders in the urban development process, so collaboration skills are an important attribute. We would also like you to have experience with and feel comfortable working in Focus Total or AutoCAD.
