PhD Candidate: Bioderived Materials for Sustainable and Bio-degradable Wearable Electronics RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is seeking a PhD candidate located in Norrköping, Sweden. About Us The project is hosted by the bio-organic electronics units at RISE, which are strongly engaged in developing next-generation sustainable and stretchable printed electronic solutions. RISE, together with Linköping University (LiU), manages a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing facility and laboratories for ink and material development, electronics integration, and characterization of printed electronic devices. The Position We are looking for an early-stage researcher for an industrial PhD student position focusing on bioderived materials for additive manufacturing of sustainable and bio-degradable wearable electronics. This position is part of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network (FERNS). Duties The successful candidate will: - Assess low-impact and potentially bioderived materials as core components for functional materials (inks and substrates) - Develop functional materials for printed wearables (e.g., e-patch and e-textile) technologies or smart farming Activities include: (i) Development of low-impact functional inks (ii) Development of bioderived films (iii) Development of printing processes for developed materials (iv) Optimization of processes and integration strategies The project involves collaborations with international partners, including short stays (approximately 1 month) in the Netherlands and UK. Qualifications - Master's degree in Material Science, Material Chemistry, Applied Physics, or similar - Expertise in material development and characterization - Coursework in polymer physics, nanotechnology, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and material characterization - Knowledge of screen-printing and/or inkjet printing is desirable - Genuine interest in science and learning new skills - Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team - Fluency in English Mandatory Requirements 1. Not possessing or having defended a doctoral degree 2. Not having lived or worked in Sweden for more than 12 months in the past 3 years 3.
