About this role
We are looking for someone to work as a substitute on an as-needed basis in a safe and experienced assistance team for a woman with ALS. This involves double assistance around the clock, and you will always work alongside a regular staff member. She lives in her own home with her daughter, and they have a shared cat and a dog. She has a tracheostomy, a ventilator, and a PEG, which means you will play a crucial role in providing essential support, security, and care in her daily life.
🩺 About the assignment
As a personal assistant, you will assist with:
• Respiratory support via ventilator and alarm management.
• Tracheostomy care, including suctioning and daily maintenance.
• Feeding and care via PEG.
• Personal care, hygiene, and transfers.
• Support in daily routines and communication.
You will receive thorough training and orientation before working independently, but with support from regular staff.
💡 We are looking for someone who
• Has experience in personal assistance or work in healthcare and social services.
• Ideally has knowledge of ventilator care, tracheostomy, or PEG, but the most important qualities are that you are meticulous, confident, and willing to learn.
• Is attentive, calm, and respectful in your interactions.
• Has good teamwork skills and can take responsibility even in quiet moments.
• Can speak and understand Swedish fluently.
• Is punctual and has a strong work ethic.
💬 Personal qualities
You have a calm and reassuring demeanor, are attentive to details, and can maintain focus even in stressful situations. You enjoy working closely with an individual and create a sense of security through care, respect, and professionalism. No allergies, as there are a dog and a cat in the home.
⏰ Working hours and extent
The work is conducted in 12-hour shifts (we currently need mostly day substitutes but also night substitutes as needed) during illness, leave, and vacations. This position is suitable for those studying or having another primary occupation and can step in on short notice.
