Our client is a 28-year-old man who lives in his own apartment in central Habo but spends part of his time at his parents' home in the countryside outside Habo. As an assistant, you will be part of a wonderful team of assistants who provide double support in this role and make a difference for our client every day.
About the position
Our client has a developmental disability, autism, and epilepsy, experiencing several seizures daily, which means he requires constant supervision. He enjoys animals and nature, playing video games, and listening to music. We are looking for someone who retains a childlike spirit and can play and interact with the client at his level. As an assistant, you will work a lot on motivating him to engage in activities and be a support throughout the day's events, which also includes personal care tasks. In this assistant group, we practice low-arousal responses; if you have prior experience with this, it is an advantage, otherwise, you will learn the approach from your colleagues during shadowing.
Requirements
As an assistant, you play a crucial role in enabling our client to live an independent and fulfilling life on his own terms. To ensure that you both enjoy your time together and that daily life runs smoothly, we believe that you should be a flexible and positive person who enjoys working with people, can work independently, and is prepared to take on significant responsibility. You should be able to remain calm in various situations and feel secure in your professional role. Previous experience as a personal assistant or in a similar role is desirable. Since our client enjoys living an active life, you should be in good physical shape, as occasional lifting may be required.
The work is based at home and in daily activities. There are opportunities to borrow the family's car for outings. Public transport to the parents' home is lacking, so having a driver's license is preferred. The role involves double support during all waking hours, so you should enjoy working in a team and be able to collaborate with your colleagues. The job includes outings, nature walks, and also sitting on the couch playing video games and other games together with the client.
Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is required. To be considered for the position, you must be smoke-free. A dog is sometimes present in the home, so you should not have allergies.
